Dual-boot Config?
« on: June 19, 2005, 12:06:00 PM »

I've been using krazies installer for awhile, and  I thought instead of switching krazies off or coldbooting everytime I want to go on live, why not just configure a dualboot to boot retail everytime I turn on via dvd eject button.  I was thinking this might not be possible because the hacked bios must load to even detect this, but it would be a really great feature to add in the future.

thanks

Yeah Ndure is the only way at the moment to install a retail dual boot. However this state is no different from coldbooting a game. I am planning on making some kind of ndure retail dualboot option in the near future.

Kingroach already has a PC version available for closed retail Ndure setup. Just a few clicks and your ready to ftp the whole thing to your xbox. Then the mod is installed and ready to go.

Thank you Eh. Well could you please share your thoughts then about the thing to a somewhat critical n00b like myself. The way I see it the Ndure retail dashboot offers a dash with no more live functions then a normal coldboot? I know they work different but in the end offer the same.

As per the development thread, Ndure has operational/usage improvements.  I will just re-iterate the one that probably matters most to Live users generally:

With an Ndure "retail" (or "fonts") setup XBL game updates work automatically whereas with UXE and earlier font exploits they FRAG (and have to be manually worked around)!.

Right...Well I am aware of Ndure's benefit of allowing update.xbe's. That wasn't my question though. I was just aiming particularly on the retail dualboot part.
