Gamsesave Directly From Memcard?

Is it possible to load a gamesave directly from a memcard? I need to reintstall a newer softmod, I have an error 13 and no dashes are loading.... no ftp aswell...

when you load an exploit you're loading an xbe. i dont think you can load an xbe from a memory card. if you manage to get it to load, it probably won't install.

yea thats what i figured, i guess my xbox is tottaly fried now... I mean i can still play retail games on coldboot... but what's the fun without emulation?

If you can find a save that will just load from the memory card you could possibly get ftp access and fix it.  I think when i first did a softmod i loaded a save from a memory card and installed the softmod and then wondered why the softmod never actually worked. Then i read the instructions again. I think it's possible.

nope not possible to run gamesaves exploits straight off the mem card.

Ah! well i really dont know how to hotswap, and it seems too risky to do, so im just gonna live with the error... unless anybody else can help with my problem...


EDIT: Well I dont really need to intall the softmod, i just need temprary ftp acces to restore the dashes....

give us some more info...

What sort of softmod was used origionally?

Is it dual boot via tray state?

Will it boot any burnt disk, it sound like it wont from what you say.
 In other words, is the exploit broken or just your dash?

Is an exploit gamesave of any kind still on the hdd?
 I'm guessing not, or you wouldn't be asking.
 If there is then you could get limited access via ftp.

look for the error 13 section,
maybe an msdash may fix the ms dash, then use mem manager to copy over the save.

But failing all of that, hotswapping isn't as hard as it sounds.
There are some good tuts for that also.

Read my hotswapping faqs, to be safe.

Also try letting a LIVE* enabled game update your dash, this may work or fail, and is harmless to your currecnt situation.

*=This doesnt require LIVE account or internet to work.

NICNAC- Im running ltools, I had duel boot on, I was running UnleashX as default dash. The gamesave is on the xbox, but I cant connect for an ftp for some reason.  I think mabe the the network settings got reset, and although I have the ip, Ltools fails to display the default gateway or proper subnet mask.  When I try to run UXE it says the update.exe is not the proper one or is missing, please add to package. Im guessing that has something to do with the ms dash.  As of now I can load Ltools via exploit but thats it.
All stopped working after I updated xbox live through halo2. Now all i get is an error 13...

DaddyJ- Yeah I read your hotswap tutorial, and I still have some questions, if I must do it. (I might shoot a pm your way in the future, if that's not a problem).  I'll try to update the dash through a live game, but it might not work, since an update is what caused this in the first place! Well Im running out of options so I'll try it...

Thanks for the suggestions! And you think of anything else please share!

I'm not too familiar with ltools but that would be your best hope of avoiding a hotswap.

Can you run evox from ltools?

I believe MXM is the defualt app for ltools but does it load any others?

there must be something you can do to get ftp working.

My Ltools cannot load a dash without installing the UDE and that doesnt work... IT doesnt have the proper update.exe file.

For some reason I cannot FTP, I have no idea why, but it never worked through Ltools anyway...

Hello I am wondering if you have tried using a crossover cable huh.gif oh and that would be with 192.168.0.1 & 255.255.255.0 on the PC oh and 192.168.0.3 & 255.255.255.0 on the Xbox.

I forgot to mention my duel boot does not work, and c restore does absolutely nothing, the only way to load ltools is to load it with the MA exploit.  The c backup I made does not have any affect whatsoever when restoring.  The ftp setting suggested have been tried before, but I"ll try again to make sure...



P.S yes I have tried using the crossover cable
