if you stock HDD is softmodded and working fine
then boot up with out the virtual C running and copy C:\ and E:\ as is
to use in xboxHDM, you new HDD will be the same

When using xbhdm, Can I copy over my complete C drive the way it currently is (with softmod,virtual c) and have the new drive already softmodded?

Do I need to just use the ORIGINAL C drive to build my new HD and once installed back in my Xbox, run the softmod installer to add the softmod to the drive?

I really need to finish this install, I have everything apart and parts are everywhere!  can somebody please answer this question?

YES
when your done
you may need to do some tweaking on NKpatcher (use .06)
and format F:\ to get all the space
but that's another topic

you know your first thought's have been right so far  
just keep going there is nothing you can mess up that
that can't be fixed (well locking HDD and losing the password)
