Soft Mod Went Bad
« on: May 20, 2005, 06:35:00 PM »

Iam having a similer problem with my box. You know I did the softmod but after the install when I rebooted my box it says "Xbox live is updating your system" then I click Ok and it says "Xbox live is not responding". It dose not play any games only the animation at the begining. I think the only thing that will take care of this is by installing a modchip to bypass the Bios.

is there an error number on the service error screen?

theres always a way to fix it , unless its an error 6 or a serious hardware error,

I get errors 13, 16, and 21. Theyre all related to the dashboard.

But the problem is that I can't reinstall anything or get anything to work. How do I reinstall the files when it doesn't work?

If you dont want to hotswap, then a chip should provide you with a boot disc option to fix the problem.

My brother wanted me to softmod his xbox so that he can install the new levels on Halo 2 free, but that didnt work out too well. Then he tried to do it himself, but he couldnt get it working and then he couldnt uninstall, reinstall, or c-restore. After all of this, the xbox was only able to read the games, now it doesnt even do that. It just goes to the 'you need service' message with the red led, with or without a game. I need help in fixing this, what could be wrong?
