Wow guys, thanks a bunch. Now I gotta send in my Xbox to MS and risk them seeing my softmodding remains and H2 on the HD. O_O

I think I remember reading that this is a side effect of softmodding.

Where did you read that garbage??  I've never seen, nor heard of such a claim.

Sounds like your shooting in the dark, hoping you assumption will be true.

There is no way a soft mod can ruin a dvd drive.  Its completely unrelated.  Bios corruption, due to the inadequacy of users is possible, but nothing dvd related.

Xbox's, as well as ps2's are known for its dvd drive issues.  In the case of the xbox's, thompsons are a known culprit.

simply clean the lens, or buy a new drive.  Those are your options.

Yes, I realize that the second post I made wasn't such a wise decision, but oh well. I'm still sending it in. They can't prosecute you for having an illegal backup or softmodding it, can they?

Sorry for being so immature, guys. ><

I think you are much better off just buying a new DVD drive.  Once M$ completly screws you over on the shipping costs, you could have just bought and replaced the DVD drive yourself for less.  You also avoid any problems with copyright infringement.
