Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0
« on: April 17, 2005, 03:18:00 PM »

I used Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0 to mod my xbox and it worked great.

Now I want to keep it working and I'm worried about 2 things

1. If I leave my xbox unplugged for a long time will the Xbox suffer from the clock loop problem?

2. Can new games try to update my dash and mess up the softmod?

ad 1)

no clock loops on UXE exploits. i unplug mine every night.

ad 2)

yes. but the update will probably fail because the xbox will crash upon the attempt. to protect yourself and your system entirely from mod-killing updates you better use a UXE package that has a virtual C drive. SMD 2 does not.

Is it the games that can try to update the dash or is it only if they can connect to xbox live? what i mean is, am I safe as long as my Xbox is not connected to the internet?

possibly. but more likely the update will cause an error 21, which will be gone when you reboot. but the game won't run. it might run when you launch the appropriate XBE through a file manager, e.g. default.xbe updates, game.xbe doesn't

I have MS Dash backup and Mod backup on my Xbox, is that enough or should I FTP the backups to my PC for safe keeping? If something goes wrong and my Xbox will not boot my Unleashx dash, will I be able to FTP the backups back to the Xbox to fix it?

a backup on the box only is pretty useless...
