Error 21 With Mechassault Soft Mod

I have tried using ltools_MA_v1.7.5, SID.MechAssault.v2.0.XS Filter - Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents ** and ltools_MA_v1.8.rc1 to softmod with mech assault, with 1.8 all i get is a blank screen but with itools 1.7.5 and SIDv2.0 i get a error 21 as soon as i try to load it. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? i have run out of ideas. any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated. Xbox is v1.3 ntsc and mech assault is the original disk
