So would copying the backup from my xbox to the other xbox have just corrupted the HD?  I was thinking of putting that HD in my XB to see if it could at least run.  I can't seem to find the program that you mentioned.  Where can I find it?  I was also thinking that if the TSOPs are causing the problem, could I find virgin TSOPs?

Thanks for your help.

When you get the "Need service screen" do you get an error code in the upper left hand corner, if so what is that number?

Not all xboxes give a number, but if this xbox didn't run with a valid backup then I would assume its giving error 21..
Boxes with 5713+ kernels cannot use backups from xboxes containing anything less than msdash 5659..
You will need xboxhdm to fix it..  You can get the proper msdash files from any newer autoinstaller cd..
If you don't have an eeprom backup you will need to pull off a hotswap, see DaddyJ's thread in my sig..

Thanks you guys are all awesome.

It's been quite the learning experience, but the problem error 21 is solved.

Got the xboxhdm_v1.9 package and had to make bootable iso and burn it.  Used the C and E backups from slayer's auto installer to put in it. Once the disc was ready, I did a hotswap so that the HDD would unlock, booted from my xboxhdm_v1.9 iso disk that I made and chose option 1 to fully rebuild C and E drives.  I then started the 007 hack and made a MS backup and MOD backup. Installed evox dash, made EEPROM backup.  FTP'd everything (all paritions) from xbox to PC and burned it for future reference.  I also made a new xboxhdm_v1.9 iso bootable CD with my EEPROM info on it, and my backup of C and E that I had just FTP'd.

So now I have a recovery CD for that xbox complete with EEPROMS and hacks, so I don't need to hotswap ever again :-).

Whew!  What a rush.  I now understand why EEPROMS and xbox backup is an absolute must.  Like I said, sometimes you have to learn the hard way  wink.gif  .
