You can backup you eeprom and hdkey. Then copy your whole modded drive via FTP to your pc , then use xboxhdm 1.9 to build an iso containing those files ,use that to build a brand spankin new drive. no hotswapping involved.

You got what you need for the simplest method..
-Get Config Magic 1.6 and install it on atleast your chipped hdd..
-Upload softmod eeprom.bin to Config Magic 1.6's /data directory.
-Clone the eeprom from your softmodded box onto your chipped box.
(Make sure you save a backup of the original if needed)
-Pop in new hdd into chipped box.
-Boot an installer cd and prepare the hdd..
-FTP whatever files you need to softmod the new hdd, or an entire backup if you choose..
-Lock hdd and pop it into softmod box..

You should now be good to go, I mod many boxes using this method.. Takes around 5 minutes..

It's allways handy to have a modded xbox with the same eeprom as the softmodded if there both yours. It's allso easy to keep a back cd-r of your backup in Dashboards so that you can go about cloning the modded xbox back to the softmodded eeprom again just incase of fowl ups. Either way is good as i take it none of the xbox's are for live.

Another Problem.....!!

Everything went smooth with using Slayers 2.6 preparing the new drive on the chipped xbox BUT after puting this HD in the softmodded xbox after the flubber I get ERROR 5...!!

Could it be that I didn't use configmagic properly?

I put the original HD back in the soft mod box and it boots up fine....?

I connected the new drive to the chipped xbox and booted slayers disk and ran the lockHD option.

Then connected new HD to softmodded xbox and booted. One good thing was no more error 5 but it when to what looked like an original MS dashboard screen that said it was updating the program trying to load, or something to that effect.

I'm going to start over I guess.

Any more help would be great.\

Thanks!
