I personally don't recommend coldbooting, it always seemed kinda risky. FYI tho i reccommend Waffletools, highly. It installs UnleashX and has a UXE installer built in, and its in English.

Another very simple option is to use the audio hack if you have an older box that supports it.. i think kernel versions B4 5305 (i could be slightly off).
With that the box allways boots up with the stock bios and you have to activate the hack when u want to use it..
I have a box that is chipped and I have an upgraded HD with lotsa junk backed up on it and a non stock C drive.. I have been playing halo 2 for months without getting banned. (with my mod chip turned off.)

Oh well all is sorted now, i found a solution on another "more helpful" / "actually helpful" forum, just use the splintercell exploit and run evox to change to ntsc and thats it, no hacks left on the machine so fine to use on XBLIVE, just what i wanted

If anyone is interested I made a gamesave UXE installer that when booted with the trayopen gives you the option of installing UEEE into the unmodded backup, and the ability to easily switch back and forth from modded state to unmodded backup.. This means that if you install UEEE into your backup, you won't need access to an exploitable game to restore your UXE..
Note that in all cases, UEEE prevents you from accessing the XBL dashboard, so make sure you have your acct setup before installing UEEE..
See my webpage for info on Another Gamesave Installer..

sounds like you installed live after you softmodded?

I really think that Live needs to be installed and configured properly before you softmod, cause if it isnt configured properly and its softmodded it cant find the original xbox bios to go back to, this happened with a friend of mine's xbox as well, could get in and start it going but when it trys to take you the configuration to troubleshoot it cant go back to the original bios cause of the softmod..

Not totally sure here, but I think thats what needs to be done to get live working properly

No i had live working before hand, had it since november, only just installed the soft mod, is it because i installed on drive E: and not C:? i thought you had to install on E: so live thinks nothings been changed on your xbox
