Its safe to go on Live but run the Ltools uninstall script before you do.

Then run the install script to get back into exploited mode.

Works like a charm.

Im not quite sure. I never did what Ricecake said. But Ricecake did not mention about that either. Im using ltools though, MA 1.75

IMO, when you softmod using ltools, you can play/install anything you want. The moment you want to access live, you MUST uninstall the ltools softmod. Uninstall softmod will only remove the hack and the rest of your file/apps will remain in your HDD.

Install back ltools whenever you feel playing around with your apps again.

You need.

1) old copy of MechAssault. New ones do not work
2) Memory Card
3) PC usb cable
4) UXE (French) Autoinstaller (has UnleashX)
5) Remove all MA gamesaves first. Use the above to copy UXE gamesave hack to you Xbox using memory manager. Run MA, choose campaign then run linux. It will install UnleashX on to your xbox
6) Reboot the Xbox. Unlesh X will load up. LED changes to red.
7) Once in UnleashX configure you IP in network settings. FTP all your favourite programs to E: drive in respective folders such as games, apps etc.

works on Live if you do a clean boot (i.e. when in UnleashX, insert Live Enabled game, Switch xbox off then on, game will clean boot LED will change to GREEN and you can log into live)

Allright, I used the softmod installer 1.01 to softmod my Xbox

here's the info about it:
QUOTE
What does it include?

+ Softmod Exploit Packages for 007 Agent Under Fire, MechAssault, and Splinter Cell.

+ bert-generic.xtf, ernie.xtf, s.xtf, s2.xtf, and s3.xtf hacked fonts.

+ Signed Phoenix BIOS Loader, with Dual Boot function.

+ Evox M8+ 1.6 BFM BIOS (with G Drive Support for HDD Upgrades).

+ Unleash 0.37.1218 Build 543 and Evolution X 1.8.3935 for Dashboards.

+ Dvd2Xbox 0.6.3 (to rip smaller games and Audio CDs to your HDD).

+ DVD-X to watch DVDs (without the remote).

+ Backup / Recovery functions.

What does it do?

Softmod Installer Deluxe is similar to other various gamesave exploit installers such as lTools, SIN, and WaffleTools. Once this gamesave is on your Xbox HDD and you have booted your game of choice, you can softmod your Xbox. The installer will even make a backup of your C Partition just in case it doesn't work, just in case.

It will install a Dashboard at C:\evoxdash.xbe (or E:\evoxdash.xbe if you prefer), Font Exploits, DVD-X (for watching movies), and a BIOS Loader (PBL) to load the hacked bios.

This installer should work on ALL current Xboxes to this date.

What does Softmodding do? It allows you to run a Dashboard and play burned discs with an Xbox that doesn't have a Modchip. It is the easiest and quickest ways to mod your Xbox, wihout having to pull it apart. You can however go one step further and replace your stock HDD and softmod, but as of yet I haven't done this.

What do I need?

+ This Softmod Installer (obviously).

+ Latest MS Dash (version 5960), just run a newish game with Xbox Live support (Burnont 3, Need for Speed Underground 2, etc.) and this will update your MS dash to the latest one. Alternitavely, you can extract it from Auto-Installer Deluxe v1.0 and higher. Extract the Auto-Installer Deluxe ISO and go to Files\Dash. You'll see a ms-c.zip file here, which contains the MS Dash 5960. Use either FTP or other means to transfer it over to E:\Backup\MS\ once the Softmod has been installed. You can also just Format C, install the new MS Dash, then re-apply the Softmod.

+ An Xbox Memory Card, Action Replay, Mega X-Key, or a compatible USB Memory Stick (you will need a USB Adapter cable for this) to store the gamesaves so that you can load them on to your unmodded Xbox.

+ An Original of either 007 Agent Under Fire, Mechassault, or Splinter Cell. Please note that the Xbox Classics range WILL NOT work, it must be the older versions.

now i used Splinter Cell to have my X-Box boot into UnleashX. I would like to know, if I can play Live! games online now? I have the 5960 MS Dash (1.6 X-Box) and patched it with the softmod installer. I still have the Hacked Saves on my HD, but I guess i have to remove them.

as far as anybody on x-s knows, MS is not scanning the xboxdash.xbe file which means that yes, cold booting should not get you banned. there's of course some risk going on live with that setup cold booting as MS could theoretically start scanning hard drives whenever...

ya just be careful it is so easy to get banned these days, if you changed your hard drive after originally signing up for live you cant log on or you will be banned, if you changed it befor you signed up for live your good to go

I recommend buying a second HD. Even if you've already signed up for live, you can always make a switch, or make both of your drives external. Go to the BST forum and you can get a retail xbox HD for 10 bucks.. Keep the regular one you have for playing live. when you get a new one, hook it up and softmod it. you can make both drives external by making a case or osmething for them, then its easy to simply unplug one and plug in the other. I personally don't recommend coldbooting, it always seemed kinda risky. FYI tho i reccommend Waffletools, highly. It installs UnleashX and has a UXE installer built in, and its in English.
