CODE
mkdir /mnt/harddisk
mkdir /mnt/stick

Now we will connect the filestructure of these devices with the directories we made, and that way we can access them
CODE
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/harddisk
mount /dev/sda /mnt/stick

Ok now we can copy stuff from the harddrive to the USB stick. Before you start up Xebian, you should actually copy the savegames to a folder in the root of your C: drive while you are in windows. Pick a simple name for the directory, like save. Don't copy the RAR file, but unpack it

Ok next step, we will go to the directory we created before, using the command CD, change directory, and we will look what is in that directy, using the ls command
CODE
cd /mnt/save
ls

Ok, now you should see on of two things. 1 directory named UDATA, or 1 or 2 directories with a name consisting mainly of numbers. If you only see the UDATA directory, you have to change directoy once more
CODE
cd/UDATA
ls

We're nearly there. Next step is to copy the directory or directories to the USB stick. Write down the names of the directory(or directories). I'll be using the names 21585554 and 5553000c from Splintercell. As far as I know that's the only one using two savegames. If you use another one, just do one copy(cp) command, and replace the name with the one you just wrote down.
CODE
cp -R 21585554 /mnt/stick
cp -R 5553000c /mnt/stick

Now give the computer some time. It might start spewing some lines after about 30 seconds, but that's a good thing.
Now there's just one more step: Unmounting the USB device, before we can remove it and stick it in the XBOX

CODE
umount /mnt/stick

Hope this helps out...

I boot of fine and i enter the username and password fine.

I write
mkdri /mnt/hardisk
mkdir /mnt/stick

then it say they alreday exist

Then i write :
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/hardisk
Then it tells me :Mount : Special device /dev/hda1 does not exist

It will mount my usb stick when i write the mount /dev/sda/ mnt/stick then is loads up

SO what is going on with the

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/hardisk
Then it tells me :Mount : Special device /dev/hda1 does not exist

ok i got to that part....but now once i transfer the save to my usb drive. it only shows one block being used and no save...is there some sort of mistake that i made?

I use xebian 1.14, it boot ok and can mount harddisk

But when I type "mount -o loop /dev/sda /mnt/pendrive

it shows error information:
SQUASHFS error: can't find a SQUASHFS superblook on loop1
ioct1: loop_CLR_FD: device or resource busy
mount: you must specify the file system type.

Who can tell me what's the meaning and what shall I do.

Please help.!!!

I also had the 'SQUASHFS / you must specify the file system type' error
when attempting to mount the usb stick. My mistake was that I was not
entering 24 at the first login. That login doesn't pause long before it scrolls
off the screen to the second login for 'root'. Also on my system the usb stick
was not sda but sde. Plugging the stick in after booting allowed me to read that
the dev was specified as sde. Other trivia: wait after typing the cp command. I
was halfway through the next command when everything went scrolling up the
screen as more copies took place. And if you are using the Splinter Cell exploit,
remember not to have any other Splinter Cell saves on your Xbox or it just locks
up instead of modding.

Anyway, I am finally soft modded.

I used 'xebian dist-1.1.4-basic'.
I used a Sony PSP, which works with an Xbox but not with Mega-X key or
Action Replay. Editing the AR init file merely allowed AR to attempt to read
the PSP before it crashed.

Is it possible to:

A: Just put the files on a thumbdrive, stick it on a USB-to-Xbox adaptor and run the appropriate game?

or B: Run Xebian via VirtualPC to go through the aforementioned motions?

A: Won't work cause the file format won't be FatX (xbox file system)
B: Might work...

love.gif voidfoo and perry 326 thank-you so much. Voidfoo your tutorial helped me complete my 1st softmod. The other techniques almost caught me on fire. Perry 326 help is absolutely necessary for anyone that does not know how to use linux. I would not have been able to complete this without him.  biggrin.gif Thanks again.
