Softmod A Ps2?

Can you softmod the ps2? If you could that would be better than finding out you can softmod Xbox's because those things are a million times worse than the xbox. They are more cheaply made and have many more solder connections.

Yeah, newz/scene is where you should look.  check the forums for the independence exploit.  I'd offer directlinks, but I'm not feeling too well at the moment, and don't feelup to looking around for them... sorry ; /.  You can pm me if you need any more info 'bout it.

I'm currently using the independence exploit on my PS2, and setup the exploit for my friends japanese PS2 so he could use cogswap loader to play american games. I used a ARMax pen drive and it was very easy. I spent several weeks reading up on xbox softmodding before I was comfortable doing it, but only a couple days on the PS2 exploit, but perhaps it's because of my newfound experience.

If you're looking for functionality of an Xbox though, you will not find it. The only dashboard-ish applications don't look so great, and HDLoader/Advanced are only compatible with a limited number of games, so it's hardly practical to backup your games because of all the patching you will have to mess with.

The Xbox community is very "lucky" and I somewhat doubt there will be a future console with as much homebrew and backup capability as the Xbox, with or without modchip.

Can someone help me with this please? I have a ps2, and planning to buy a max drive (usb) will this be enough to run an exploit and play backups, homebrew apps and emus? Or do i need some cheat device that allows disc swapping?
What good apps are there for ps2? Cuz i'm a noob in that. Ooh yeah, does it work on a PAl 2? Cause i read from a site it doesn't go. And dont wanna use hdloader/advance for the moment yet

I dunno if it's exploitable or not using a softmod, but you can certainly use the Modchip on it, although you need to get another part called the Laser Fix, otherwise youre PTwo laser will burn out in a couple of days, and bye bye PS2

Been using Swap Magic 3.3 for about 2 weeks now on the slimline PSTwo.  Works fine, but nothing will ever beat the incredible experience of the XBOX running XBMC.  This alone is worth purchasing multiple XBOX systems (one for the HD set in the living room, one for the bedroom).  Yes, Bill Gates blessed the MOD community when he created this beast and I fear we'll never see something like this again.
