Ltools 1.8 No Ftp Access

Here is the scenario:

v1.0 Xbox kernel 4034 that I have been running the audio expoloit for about a year and a half or so with no problems.  My bro came over last night and when I wasn't looking he tried to connect Xbox Live.  This updated my dashboard and my audio exploit no longer worked.  So I have been reading all the forums and figured out what I needed to do.  I still had the old MA save game and was able to launch that to get ftp access to the xbox.  I d/l ltools 1.8rc1 for MA and ftp'd it over.  I then launched MA and ran the run linux save game.  It launched Ltools.  Now here is the issue.  I can install UXE and it installs.  I boot up with no disc and it goes directly into ltools.  The problem is I cannot ftp into the xbox at all.  I can ping it just fine.  I ran a port scanner on 192.168.0.3 and it sees it but shows no open ports.  Anyone have any ideas why ftp is not working.  Oh yea I also checked the ltools options and it shows enable ftp = yes.
