what is the power supplly out put in watts or volts??

my freind's psu is busted, u think he could replace it w/ a dvd psu or a computer's psu ???

its replaceable with an ATX PSU, have a look in the tutorials,
however, an ATX PSU is likley much larger than the xbox PSU

a DC-DC converter will be VERY expensive ($100 +)

best option is as these lot write, buy another xbox PSU! (there are two types so make sure you get one with the right plug!)

i'd go for a busted xbox on ebay and risk that its not the PSU thas busted - just green and red flashing is the best bet

or buy a PSU from a dealer online (try www.lik-sang.com, there are others that have been suggested)

or buy a WORKING PSU from ebay dealer (make sure they say it works, there's some b@stards out there that'll sell you a broken one

seems like noone knows what the output is.  i know it's got power for the mobo, hdd, dvd, video output, ethernet, ethernet leds, front panel leds, 4 controllers, 8 extra devices plugged into them, the rear fan, and the smaller fan on the 1.0 gpu heatsincs. and it's probbably get a little extra

again a search would have brought this up, theres a fairly recent topic requesting precisley the same information


heres the post!


well, a quick search on the forums mr senior member woud've brought up loads of hints

typing in watts AND psu in the search brings up 20+ topics

is about the 4th one down

you can draw, at most a couple of hundred mA (even then thats pushing it, I would limit it to 100 or so)

here's the specs of the PSU

+3.3V:4.8A = 14.4 watts
+12V:1.2A = 14.4 watts
+5V:13.2A = 66 watts

total = 94.8 watts,

now the 12V is pretty much fully used by the HDD and the DVD drive,


in summary, use an external PSU, or a mod that needs less power

in LED terms you could run maybe 10 at up to 15mA each from the 12V, but really, you're better off using a wall dc plug thingy so you dont risk blowing the xbox PSU
