Xbox Kicked The Bucket . . . New Xbox?
« on: November 05, 2004, 02:03:00 PM »

first off, it WAS a 1.6
k=5838
d=5659
sc exploit

ran great for about 3 months, swapped the hdd with a 120gb, ran great for 2 more months. when i was in the middle of playing a snes game on xsnes9x, i did the l+r+l/r thumbsticks to boot back to the dash. instead of evox popping back up, the top portion of my tv was showing a bunch of garbage (basically and different colored snow). no error code, no led color indicating problem, nothing. threw the oem hdd with original xbox stuff back in it and it's doing the same thing. any ideas or suggestions will be greatly. if i do have to buy a new one, break it to me gently, i'm sensitive to these things  :ph34r:

forgot to mention, it'll boot as usual starting out with the 'lil xbox animation, THEN it'll go to messed up screen. it does this regaurdless if a disc is in or not. also, it's ntsc. tia

Maybe something went wrong with your video cable. My best bet would be the video cable especially if your original xbox hdd doesn't even seem to work right. I would try replacing that before blamming it on the exploit/exploit tools.  ;)

Man, I know exactly what your talking about. That happend to me like 3 days ago.. I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked. I even tried reformating my C drive with XBOXHDM that dident help. So i dont know what to tell you. I had those same yellow crappy lines at the top of my screen. I just pulled the *Walmart swap* And got a new xbox.. And moded it again.  :evil:

If the loading animation is fine but everything else is hosed (origional HD, boot from game, boot from HD, ect), then it sounds like you have a greater problem then a cable issue.

To me it sounds like either a file is corrupt (big fonts, bert&ernie, origional dash, ect) or there is something more drasticly wrong with the boxes hardware.

If the messed up screen is coloured bars at the top of the screen like mine was, then its not a hardware issue its the software. Mine happened because of XBMP, but I have repaired 2 others now that the users tried pressing every button they could think of after they accidently switch it to PAL from NTSC.

the way I did it was the only thing short of using a mod chip to boot like alot of other people said was the only way to get your box to work again.

ok, i suppose i also forgot to mention that i do have a back up of my eeprom and all original data from the oem hardrive. also, using xboxhdm, i formatted both new and oem hdd's and copy original eeprom, etc. to newly formatted drives and still achieving same results. i don't believe the eeprom or any of the software have a role in the problem.

as far as the vid cable goes, i use the hi-def cables for the living room's un-modded xbox, and standard cables for bedroom box. i tried it on tv in the living room, but as far as i got was a wide-screen, beatiful xbox animation, followed by high definition CRAP at the top of the screen (in wide screen, of course).

a friend said he'd gimme his original 1.5 board with failed power supply (easy fuse fix), so i might  do that, or, format the oem hdd, put in the xbox, put all the labels back on the bottom, and pay to have it sent to M$ for a shitty, refurbished xbox.

unfortunately, i'm too stubborn to buy product replacement from best buy for 30-40 bucks, so i'm SOL on that one

thx for everyone's help

My friends has developed the same problem. He was also in the Snes emulator as well as some oher things with XBMP. So I think it is coming from some settings being changed, possibly the region. Or if it is Snes they might be changing the resolution. So is there anyone who actually knows if these are possible?
Are the internal settings stored somewhere on the board and not the Hard Drive?

Is there any save outside of a solder mod?

And I know the drives are still good as I locked them for my box and they will boot there.

I don't know if this is the same problem, but I can't even get the Xbox opening animation to come up, no audio, no video, orange LED, and this screen:

Ignore the number, that's simply the VCR.

The last thing I was doing was playing NeoGenesis, and I didn't change any settings on the dashboard from MS nor EvoX.

I hope the box isn't dead, I can't afford to have it replaced. :(
