Is it possible to install a new hard drive with a Softmodded XBOX?

Also, can I install the drive, and then format it with Slayers disk, then do I reinstall the exploit or will it work without doing the exploit?

P.S. MY XBOX IS A V 1.3

Do I need to reinstall the exploit after I finish installing the HD or will it work fine?

P.S. DO I have to Lock my HD? I'm not going on XBOX Live or anything.
