Yea, they use 256k BIOS.

About the m8+_16 BIOS, I recently flashed my chip with it, and when I boot using the eject button, it just hangs. But using the power button it's no problem. I dunno what's up with that.

For flashing the Aladdin chips, I would highly recommend using XFlash v2.

I used to run into problems every now and then flashing them with EvoX, and I've yet to have a single problem using XFlash v2.

Just my 2¢...

No problem here,

I got the m8plus_1.6 bios from the "usual places" and edited it with the current Evtool 1.0.9.  Something must be wrong with the bios you used.

I've never really looked at XFlash v2.  The one I found was called "Xflash for SST49LF020 V2".  Will this work on the cheaper/newer "A" revision of the chip?

Is this the one to use?  If so, I'll give it a go.  I was just used to using Evox and raincoat back in the day.  Thanks!

Damn, you replied too fast.  lol

I made an edit up top:

"Will this work on the cheaper/newer "A" revision of the chip?"

lmao!

*edit*

I'm guessing this doesn't work with the "A" revisions.  That's what I have, and Xflash can't id the chip.  I'm assuming it needs new flash ids added first?

Hi,
How are the L1 and BT points treated for xbox versions 1.0 - 1.5.  Can't get my aladdin xt to work. Any help would be appreciated.

My Aladdin XT is making my Xbox frag (blinking green, red)... i've got two xboxes that have that same fault... one is a 1.6 and the other is a 1.1... I think i've checkt it all for bad soldering etc. so i'm thinking that maby the bios on the chip is faulty?

edit : I've soldered it "always on".

H2H: You should check that you have a bios on the chip, thats not always the case.
CheapLPC programmer is handy in those cases..  Program your chip and put it back in... Or if you have a pinheader you could hotswap with a working Aladdin chip and then flash you faulty ones...

as long as they're both SST49LF020 or SST49LF020-A..

But put your SST49LF020 into the programmer and flash it with m8 bios, and then put the SST49LF020 back into the aladdin chip and power up the xbox...

Ok, so if I don't have a pin header, can I just solder the chip directly to the LPC, connect all the points directly to the chip on the front and the backside of the MB, consider point X if it doesn't work on my 1.6, and have a Enable/Disable working chip?

Thanks.

Where can I get a pinheader?  Home depot? Radio shack? Or just online?

Thanks.
