I found a hacked action replay program a long time ago, it was on a french site but it was in english. It works with all usb drives that are recognized by the xbox.

I am having the same problem so many others have written about here.

I have a kingston 32mb which is on the list of compatible devices. the Xbox formats it OK, and I manage to install it as an AR device, it does show on the device manager as an AR device.

The problem is when I try to run AR, it does not recognize my usb stick. The big AR circle will blink to green for a second and then would turn black again. i can't drag and drop any saves in the left side as it doesnt recognize the usb stick. And yes - I can see it as an AR device in the device manager, and I tried at least 3 different versions of the AR software including the current one from their website.

Did anyone manage to solve this problem? Is there a way to do it somehow without AR? (and no, I dont mean buy AR or buy a modchip).

Help is welcome.

Finally - managed to solve my problem.

Action Replay does not recognize all usb devices that the xbox does. I have a  and the action replay would just not recognize it (when you plug it in the usb the big grey circle in the top of the screen does not turn green - that's how you know it's working).

I tried every single version of AR existing on earth, including hacked ones, mega-x-key etc..

and yes - I am sure i've modified the drivers correctly as the device manager would show an action-replay device and not a usb drive.

The solution - burn yourself a live cd of xebian, transfer the files that way (and I recommend softmod installer deluxe as it has all the files in a savegame format - simple copy to the usb device).

some links to this method:

If you're xbox is recognizing your usb key but AR does not - just use this method instead.

I have exactly the same problem, and I also resorted to the Xebian sollution, using the same links you posted here. I have one big problem though: I can't boot Xebian with the 2.4 kernel on my PC. If I type '24' at the bootup screen, It starts up, decompiles the kernel, and then reboots the computer.  Do you have a link to the version of Xebian you used, Arielgr?

Problem solved. It seems my laptop didn't want to boot the 2.4 kernel. My PC does boot it.
Now all i got to figure out is how the file have to be put on the USB stick. I mean, do I copy them inside a UDATA directory or what?

as a last resort i actully callede a friend of mine who knows alot about PC and hardware

And now my MP3 player works once again.

he told me that XP will NOT format the MP3 player back (as the guide also says) BUT there is a tool that will fix the problem.

You gotta use the orginal Data/software from the device u have used.

I did that , unpluggede my Mp3 player and plug it back into my PC and it works now!

sorry for the mass posting.

But i really would like this to work.

I know i have to manually transfer the Splinter cell files over to my USB stick like the guide says BUT i simlpy do not understand this :
2.2: Use an existing save that came with the AR software and copy the datelinfo.xbx file into the first file directory in both of the saves. If you installed the AR software into it's default directoy, go to "C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Saves" (without the quotes).

In my folder of Action replay there is No saved files only this one callede : pcdatabase

I'm having a big problem. I've got a Lexar Secure Jump Drive, 256MB. I put it into the Xbox and it formatted it. Worked great. Then, I put it in the computer and tried to install the driver. However, whenever I do, I don't have the option of installing the Action Replay driver. I have no idea why. I've reinstalled AR many times, and used all different versions, old and new. I can't figure it out. I changed the INI file as well. Any help here?

You sure when your about to update the driver, you have selected the usb storage device from the other devices/usb list,r ather than storage where hard drives and stuff are listed? I noticed if you try and change the driver for it in the storage list, it wont work. (Win XP)

The save doesn't come with the software if you open AR and look on the left there will be somthing called power saves I think there will be a 007 save and somthing else download one of them.

Hi. A mostly fantastic guide but i'm having trouble with the drivers section. Having found USB medium that the xbox recognizes, I have been unable to make Windows 'update' the drivers so as to make it run as an action replay. On selecting the action 'ActionReplay Xbox' folder and the appropriately edited .ini file, the PC concludes that no software suitable for my device is available. What can I do? Having tried this with two cameras and a memory stick, i doubt it's the usb stuff here, but some more sinister apparatus within windows to be overcome.

You have to take the route threw the control panel and hardware section to the hardware list and from there change the drivers or you didn't chang the ini file with usb view. If you haven't changed the ini file there is info on this site some where.
