UPADTE 4: v1.6 XBOX'S DO NOT WORK WITH NON-XBOX STORAGE DEVICES!

I have bought today a brand-new v1.6 Xbox with money I saved up during the summer. I tried to use my CF card and USB adapter on my new xbox (to see if i could softmod it, just as an experiment), but it did not work. Non xbox memory cards/storage devices DO NOT WORK WITH V1.6 XBOX'S!! I'm sorry, but the only way to transfer saves with a v1.6 is to make a USB male to xbox controller female adapter, plug an xbox controller into your computer, with an xbox memory card, and modify the AR drivers from there. I'll get more info later.

I don't know if this has already been addressed, but I recently softmodded my friend's 1.6 xbox. I just built my own Xbox->USB Female adapter, plugged in a SanDisk 128 MB Cruzer into my chipped box, formatted it, copied the MechAssault exploit over, then just plugged the USB stick into my friend's Xbox with the cable. It recognized it just fine and was able to copy the save over and softmod the Xbox. I checked the serial number, used several programs to check the version, and all said 1.6. So perhaps it's only certain versions of the 1.6? I believe there's two different 1.6's out.

My apologies if someone has already commented on this.

Alright guys after negating my sleep for about 48 hours as I tried to figure this out. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. After you add copy the file into the two exploit save files you have to create a .zip archive out of the files( 1 zip per file). Be sure that the Root of the zip is the UDATA folder. After this the action replay should recognize the file and allow you to transfer to memory card/ USB device. Also make sure that there are no extra txt files in the first few directories. For a more detailed explanation go Here. If this had already been posted just think of this as a reminder. Now Im off to reap my reward and maybe even get a little  sleeping.gif

i am having trouble at the point where you are suppossed to copy the files over to your xbox hard drive. That option does not show up on my xbox. The only option i have is to delete a saved game on my memory card (which is a usb device).

I am having the same issue as kanikedude03. I am using the Sandisk Cruzer micro 256MB USB 2.0 (It's in the list). BTW, THANK YOU for this tut, I was lost on what to do before I found this. Now I have the game saves on the USB drive and the xbox only allows me to delete it. No option for copying.

Am I doing something wrong? Please help me.

Thanks.

I don't know if anyone is still active on this thread
but i do have some problems...
i tried the tutorial and AR says that my usb-stick has only 1 block free space (it's one with 256 mb space).
When i plug the usb in my xbox it says it has 2595 blocks free space, another thing i've noticed is that when i copy a gamesave from my xbox hd to the stick it always says the gamesave is corrupted.
The last problem i have is that when i copied a gamesave to the stick and put it back in the xbox the copied gamesave is gone unsure.gif .

Could anybody help me???

To you and the other guy who was having this problem just press right on the directional pad when in the xbox game save menu to highlight the actual gamesave. You should now have the option to copy the gamesave.

If you are sure that you have followed the tut to a t you might want to try a different usb stick to see if its your memory device thats causing the problems.

ok here goes maybe the thought that you could all have a good laugh at the first bit will inspire someone to answer my question, here goes: been working on this for 3 days now, i have read all the pages relating to this thread, i have made my own usb adapter( first day )also made it compatible with the cracked version of AR which was fun as i also had the problem of the memory disapearing untill i realised i could click on it and format it \o/ all my memory back ( all in first day ), i was using a iitronics 512 mp3 player at first and although AR recognised it and although the xbox gave me the error i was able to 1. copy the gamesave across to the memory card in AR 2. after putting the card in xbox erased it all the time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) ( its weird once its been attached to the xbox and has been erased the xbox see's it as a memory device and allows me to copy other game saves across to it once i take it out and put it back on the pc it once again shows as full in AR (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif) . ok this is were the fun starts, after trying everything i know and searching countless forumns and sites and many visits to the usual places ( quick note #$$$$-help is not really helpfull) i was still at a loss, so this morning i got back my iitronics 128 mp3 player and tried this one instead and would you believe it, it worked a charm everything went the usual way but after getting the error message that i now want to kill someone over i looked in the m$ dash memory so i could punch the screen and would you believe it  the save exploits were there \o/ \o/. So great you think noooooooooooo this is were the nOOB in me came out and even though i had read all about how to copy the save across i had forgot as i was drunk at the time of reading it 5.32 ish in the morning, so once again i struck my head as the only option i had was to delete it ( thats why its red up there) so delete i did thinking it was a setting on the mp3 player that i had to change regarding online mode thinking to myself that i had done it once i can do it again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .... but i was wrong now i am back to were i was all those days ago, so im here finally pleading for help by anyone who has an update on this issue. so please post if you can.

Thanks

Ok... i was having shitloads of trouble with getting AR to accept the files...

Turns out it just didn't like the zip files created with AlZip (my zip program)... I downloaded WinRar and used that to create the zip files and it went through fine from what i can tell.

Sooo.... USE WINRAR TO CREATE THE ZIP FILES

Hi. A mostly fantastic guide but i'm having trouble with the drivers section. Having found USB medium that the xbox recognizes, I have been unable to make Windows 'update' the drivers so as to make it run as an action replay. On selecting the action 'ActionReplay Xbox' folder and the appropriately edited .ini file, the PC concludes that no software suitable for my device is available. What can I do? Having tried this with two cameras and a memory stick, i doubt it's the usb stuff here, but some more sinister apparatus within windows to be overcome.

I had a similar problem today tbh and i over came it by changing the xxx and yyy values in both .ini files in the xbox action replay folder one in driver folder and one in the main folder. Had a problem with transfering the zips threw the action replay proggy, so ftp'd to modded xbox and dumped from that to my memoey stick.

Hope this helps wink.gif
