Soz for double post, but have something to add. i found my xbox is running a dash no. 1.00.5960.01 and a k no. 1.00.4817.01 , ive already opened up my box and played around inside so i cant just run liveupdate. is there anyway i can downgrade my dash to 4920 so i can mod it. Also is there anyway i can make CD with xiso to softmod the box. im getting really fed up with this, i think its time to buy the damn AR card :(

i have a 1.6 xbox. i followed your tutorial with my intelli stick 64mb and i made an adapter using one of those usb to ps/2 mouse adapters. i cut it in half and removed all of the hot glue to get the wires. i cut up an xbox break away cable and soldered the connectors together. then i formated the drive in the xbox. modified the ar drivers and put the save on there. It worked great.

Awesome tutorial, although i don't know why nobody has been able to use a usb stick on a 1.6 xbox though. unless it only works on 1.6a or something.

hey yeah, ive been folowing a few tutorials( all very much the same) and i am having similar problems to the ppl here,

i have done everything needed to get the game save onto my usb,
my usb is responsive....my xbox can put crap on it, and my pc can put crap on it,
HOWEVER!

when it comes to transferring files from my pc to xbox(and visa versa)....nup...no, just no

the files dont exist,(they dont appear on the card) but sure enuff when i plug my card back into the pc, the files are still on the card... this happens from AR->Xbox and Xbox->AR

i would assume my AR is talking different languages then my xbox...how do i fix this?

and anyone know why this is?

Thanks Guys

It worked on my 1.6! And it hadn't worked before!

I looked at this, thought 'Hmm... can't hurt to try again', so I unloaded halo 2, plugged my usb adapter into the third port and plugged in my usb drive. The activity light flickered, as though it wasn't recieving enough power. I tried it, and the xbox didn't detect my memory stick. I decided to unplug my xbox controller (after going back to the main menu) from port 1 and plug the usb adappter in. This time, it worked!

Sorry if this is old but it's given me a shock.

P.S.

I just did some more testing, and I think I've discovered how to do it.

Step 1. Boot up your xbox with the controller in port 1.
Step 2. Unplug that controller and put it in port 2 (You don't need to plug it in if you have more than one controller, just use the other controller to move around.)
Step 3. Plug in your USB flash stick to the now empty port 1.
Step 4. Enter the 'Memory' menu.
Step 5. Voila! Memory Unit 1A has been formatted on your v1.6 xbox!

sad.gif) For those that are curious, I have a cheap memory stick that uses a PL-2515 chip. From the datasheets I looked at (To see if it was possible to make the card bigger) everything with one of these chips should be compatable with the xbox..

for some reason i am unable to get action replay to accept a saved game. i followed the instructions as respects the datelinfo file, but it didn't work. is there a known issue with a workaround that i haven't managed to track down yet?

thanks

@cpt_gloval try to save it directly to the saves folder while it is zipped and then drag it to the action replay it worked for me

grr.gif

1st 1 is a MP3 player and wen ive installed it to work with AR it says only 1 block available so i format it and it gives me more, so i put the files onto it and plug it into my xbox and it just says: 'The memory unit you inserted isn't working correctly. It has been erased'

the 2nd 1 is a Pen Drive called 'integral 256mb': When i connect that to the xbox to format it it says: 'The memory unit you inserted isn't functioning; it may be damaged' - but i know it isn't coz i put stuff on it at school and brought it home.

Any help?

I've got the same problem, with PNY 128mb flash drive and a dazzle memory card reader... I get that error no matter would port i plug it into, could it be my usb adapter? I bought it from the net ready made, its a "xbox to usb keyboard" adapter, would it not work because it's a "keyboard adapter"?

i am having trouble at the point where you are suppossed to copy the files over to your xbox hard drive. That option does not show up on my xbox. The only option i have is to delete a saved game on my memory card (which is a usb device). I"m using a 128MB Sony Microvault by the way if this helps. Any help in this situation would be much appreciated. Thanks.
