Any Ninja Gaiden Possibilities?
« on: August 13, 2004, 07:30:00 AM »

So as I understand it, the Hurricane Pack vol 1 is Xbox Live! exclusive downloadable update to Ninja Gaiden changes lots of things, including new camera handling.  If the cameras have been improved, that sounds to me like more than just data (like opponent placement), but code.  So far the saved game exploits have been made for games which expect data, they don't even expect code, and some hacker gets them to run code anyway.  At least until whatever bug is patched, as in the case of the re-released MechAssault.

But if Ninja Gaiden is looking for code on the hard drive, it would seem that this game would be easy to get to run custom code.  Has anybody looked into the feasibility of "exploiting" it?  (I question whether exploit is even the right word, if it's being done by design...)

I dunno, maybe the NG1.1/HPv1 stores stuff in E:\TDATA and that isn't so copiable from a memory unit to the MS Dashboard?  I haven't yet managed to obtain the hurricane pack so I haven't been able to study it to see if maybe the answer is a clear-cut no.
