Can you still boot into a game?

You are using dash 4920.  My suggestion for you is, if you can get into Evolution-X RemoteX again (or any other FTP server), to download/backup the file E:\TDATA\fffe0000\music\ST.DB, and then install the stable (a.k.a. newest version of the) audio hack.  Granted, there are some disadvantages to this hack (no custom soundtracks in games, which is why I suggested to back up the ST.DB file before installing the hack), but this hack has its good sides: It is probably the safest hack, and then at least you can know that you'll be able to run unsigned code after you return Splinter Cell, so that should resolve your time pressure.

And then if you want to toy with UDE2 more, you can do so without needing the game.

The MechAssault saved game is not required.  I used the 007 AUF saved game just as well, and from what I've seen of the Splinter Cell save it seems that game would work just as well.  Still, once you have the audio hack installed, I would suggest sometime installing a MechAssault saved game, and a 007 Agent Under Fire save, so that you have the most possible points of entry.

As I understand it, the Action Replay IS a memory unit (a.k.a. memory card) with USB support.  I don't understand why you suggest to use a memory card instead of an AR, as an AR is an MC.

Error 21 indicates that the Xbox was unsuccessful in launching an application, either because it doesn't exist where expected, or because of an invalid signature.

What are the files on your Action Replay, including paths?  (There should be something like H:\4d540000\62ef00000000\default.xbe, not something like H:\UDATA\4d540000\62ef00000000\default.xbe, because files aren't supposed to go in the UDATA on a memory card.  They only go into a UDATA directory after being copied to the hard drive to somewhere like E:\UDATA\4d540000\62ef00000000\default.xbe).

Using splinter cell or mech assault means you are using the gamesave exploit.  It doesn't matter what version your xbox is as it will work on them all. Just make sure that you aren't using the platinum hits version of the game.

Sorry for the double post, but here goes.

My questions are:

Can I FTP my box without installing evoX? I've got a router and managed toget XBC working a couple months back, if that means anything.

Also, when I take out the UDATA folder, it doesn't let me load the save.
