let me get this straight... when you boot the xbox it gives you error 21 so what you need to do is run the auf save again and ftp into it and delete the things that the install change for you. After that read, then read some more until you know which soft mod you need and what you need. Then you can sucessfully soft mod your box

thats what happens, i do exactly what you said every time and ftp back in and restore the files. like i said though, i have been reading about this and trying for several days and just cannot get it to work. what i really need is an exact guide that will work with my dash version and kernal.

lindus: if you haven't gotten it working yet, give the UDE2 tutorial I have a link to in my sig a shot. No downgrading the dash, no opening your box. The hard part is getting the exploit to let you FTP in, and you've already done that. If you can just get the tools together (I reccommend nkpatcher over PBL, but that's just personal opinion), it will take you 10 minutes.

Well, whatever the problem is, i have a method that is proven to work. Just goto: http://supertrick.ne...softmod001a.asp , no openeing the box, no dangerous things at all. This WILL POSITIVELY work with Xbox's version 1.0-1.4. After that, we're not quite sure, since those are the only ones we have tested them on. If you're having problems STILL after followong the tutorial, you might wanna get on IRC and goto the server: irc.zoite.net, channel: #supertrick. We can get your problem fixed.
