For starters, Bert & Ernie suck. Try the UDE instead. Second, with your current exploit, you need to change the extensions of your xboxdash in order for you to get to it. Are you running PBL? If not, then you need to be signing everything...

You probably have old and dangerous fonts that were in the mad gouki tutorial. It would certainly explain your problem cuz you will need to sign any game/app you want to run. If you don't want to do that you can use pbl or the nkpatcher. if you wanna run retail games you can turn on your xbox with the game inside.

yeah, i used the gouki fonts, because i cant understand how to use the UDE. when i copied the C files over, all it did was change the dash version and load the MS dash, it didnt load another BIOS. could you guys help me figure out to install the UDE?

It's pretty straight forward actually... if you could follow Gouki's guide which was messed up as is (It looks fugly... sorry), you can definately install UDE.

Get your hands on dashboard 4920's update.xbe. Rename that update.xbe to xboxdash.xbe. Rename your original xboxdash.xbe (Make a backup of everything before you attempt this) to MODxboxdash.xbe. Then get your hands on bert_ate_ernie.xtf, put it on root C:. Make sure there are no other *.xtf files on there. Then rename the fonts folder to f0nts. If you plan on using yuor original xboxdash, you need to hex edit it by changing the instances of the fonts folder to the its new name: f0nts. Then on your E: partition, put a habibi signed *.xbe that you want to run (Ex. PBL, EvoX, etc).

The bert_ate_ernie.xtf file is on #xbins. Yes, for install PBL, you copy all the files to root E:, sign the *.xbe with -habibi. The bioses folder needs to be there with BFM bios inside. Make sure you have installed a dashboard for where the bios points to. smile.gif

thanks for trying to help me so much, but im still lost. i think i need a little more guidance and hand-holding if im going to get this to work. i do appeciate it, but i dont guess i can do it without alot more help.

I'd reread the pinned tutorial on UDE (It may make more sense now). If it still doesn't make sense, don't attempt it till you feel comfortable in doing it. The biggest thing is read it till you know what to do and once you get one done, it's like second-nature. pop.gif

well, also, my F drive is empty and has no free space, but alot of the evoX inis ive seen have stuff listed in the F drive. is this a problem, and how could i fix it?

There is no guarentee you'll have an F: partition. You only have one if you format it on a 10GB or larger hdd. If you have an 8GB hdd, you don't have it. It doesn't affect anything if you don't have it other than size. Just put your files on E: instead.
