Replacing Hdd Using 007 Game Hack
« on: April 01, 2004, 06:31:00 AM »

to clone the hdd or copy all the files from the stock 10gb hdd in the xbox and put them on my new 80GB hdd, by the 007 ftp trick through my pc.

then put that new hdd in the xbox, load up the MS dash (if this is possible), load the 007 gamesave (with the 007:AUF game obviously) then proceed to install the evox dash...

i dont care about unlocking for Xboxlive.

or is unlocking required for other things also?

can u basically outline the steps for me, or can u point me to a tutorial?

wouldnt this be quicker than the other tutorials for locking/unlocking the hdd, which is like 100 steps?

U need to lock the drive before the Xbox will accept it, and u need to have files on the new drive to be able to run any type of exploit.
So start the 007 exploit, backup and retrieve your EEPROM, then check out this page for a cloning tut.

So would these steps work in hacking the dashboard and changing the hdd.

1. remove stock hdd (10gb) from xbox.
2. put it in my pc and clone the 10gb hdd onto a 80gb hdd
3. put the 80gb hdd into the xbox
4. load up the ms dash
5. put the memory card in and transfer the 007 gamesave to the hdd
6. put in the 007:AUF game
7. load the gamesave from the hdd (which loads up evox)
8. ftp over from pc to xbox the necessary bert and ernie files (for evox)
9. reboot the xbox (which should then automatically load up evox from hdd)
10. format the drive to open up the remaining 70-ish gb

These steps (to me) seem a little easier than the outlined tutorials.
But i'm just asking if these steps would work at all.
Would i have to unlock or lock the drive in order for it to work?

That's a way to do it yes. However :

Between step 2 and 3 you need to :
2.1) get eeprom from xbox (use evox or ConfigMagic)
2.2) Use liveinfo to generate passwd for new 80Gb drive
2.3) Use unlockx to lock the drive for the xbox.
Otherwise your box will not boot.

Instead of cloning the hdd would it be the same, or would it still be ok if I just copied the files to from the xbox hdd to the new hdd?

The new HD doesn't have a partition-layout and filesystem, so you can't just copy files to the new HD. Cloning it you get everything (HD header, filesystem and files) in one go.

Ok my next problem is to do with cloning.

This may sound stupid but.

The source drive is 80GB.

The destination drive is 10gb.

I want to clone the disk but not my games (as it will be more than 10gb)

can I somehow clone it but not clone the games so it will fit on the 10gb hdd.

will deleting the games on my 80gb hdd and then cloning it work?

is there an easier way?

Using linux this would be a breeze! Any linux distro would do...
Assuming you have the source drive on your primary master and the destination drive on your secondary master you would have to execute the commands :
CODE

dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc              count=1    bs=512k
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc    skip=1    count=1500 bs=512k
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc    skip=1501 count=1500 bs=512k
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc    skip=3001 count=1500 bs=512k
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc    skip=4501 count=1000 bs=512k
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc    skip=5501 count=9790 bs=512k

Only problem is i dont have linux.

Is there any windows program I could possibly use.?

And would I have to move my games out of my 80GB hdd or could the program somehow just exclude the F: drive or the games.

Much help would be appreciated.

Thnx.
