Can Someone Clear This Up For Me
« on: February 29, 2004, 09:19:00 AM »

Ok ive done the font hack many times and i get it working but im tired of programming xboxes when theres blackouts or if the client unplugs the xbox for long periods of time, anyways ive followed this tutorial on how to install the font hack which also has some info on how to install teh audio hack

http://forums.xbox-s...ST&f=45&t=73720

now my question is it never mentions when or where do you install the pbl it only says insert teh st.db file in the music folder which ive already done adn then insert the linux.xbe file in the root of e: which i also did but when i go to try and load it with a audio cd nothing happens my xbox just restarts.

Let me make clear i dont have no memory card and no MA 007 original game so maybe thats the problem, i also opened up the st.db file in notepad and notice it had d:linux.xbe so i changed it to e:linux.xbe is that the problem???

I have mordens audio pack with all the pbl and mxm and hacks and stuff i just need to know where do i put it remember im doing this with a hd swap without a game and no memory or action replay so i need to know what can i do exactly to get this d@mn hack working, and the tut said teh font hack was harder yeah right.

Thanks for the info Grim.

it should be d:\linux.xbe
or rename the files and have 'd:\linux' or something this makes the exploit more stable... thanks to Morden for that biggrin.gif

If the exploit resets your box, make sure no other exploit (fonts) or modcip is active.
Also, make sure u have dash 4920.

I forgot to mention, start over with a new ST.DB in case yours got corrupted.

You need to load PBL, rename the Phoenix default.xbe to linux.xbe and place that in place of the one on your e: drive (making sure it is signed with audio key) at the moment it is starting to run Linux hence your 2 lines but the rest of linux is missing so it fails, by replacing that linux.xbe with the renamed Phoenix one that loads instead, as the expoit will load any xbe named Linux.xbe
And before you reboot, make sure to put your evoxdash.xbe and associated files in place too so it has something to load from Phoenix.

Hope this helps

ok so i should install teh pbl i teh e dir instead of teh c dir like i used ot with teh fonts and rename the default.xbe to linux and have it signed with teh audio in xbedump?? if thats all then taht will be simple thatnks i will post my progress in a few mins thanks

You are messing things up a bit here. Grospolina was talking about putting evox (the dashboard) on the C-drive , not pbl (Phoenix Bios Loader) which should be on E. These are independant apps! You need to know the sequence of events trickered by the audio hack if you are going to succeed with this :
The audio hack is a hacked database file st.db which is invoked when you do the audio button combo. The code in this st.db takes control of your xbox, changes the key of the Bios to the audio key and lauches e:\linux.xbe which is the PBL executable. A hacked Bios is loaded and this tries to load a dashboard. Which dashboard can be controlled, but normally the first option is to try C:\evoxdash.xbe

So please check what version of PBL you are using (1.3 or 1.3.5i). Where to put your xboxrom.bin depends on this.
In the configuration file of PBL called boot.cfg you need to put the debug RC4 key. (cant post it here due to forum rules).
Be sure that the PBL executable is E:\linux.xbe and is signed with the audio key.
Put evoxdash.xbe and all evox relevant files on C:
You don't need to sign evox since you will be running a hacked bios.
Put a fresh copy of the hacked st.db in E:\TDATA\fffe0000\music

If you did see the Phones logo but the xbox froze up after writing 'loading xboxrom.bin' your problem could have been a missing RC4 key.

Good luck!
