New Live Update Makes It Hard To Fix Any Fails
« on: February 21, 2004, 09:04:00 PM »

grr.gif I had softmod working fine on my xbox with Xebian running. Today I restored desktop (MA Exploit) and then connected xbox live. It did an update. Then I did 'Run Linux' game save '62xxxxx' folder game save. It failed and from then, my xbox has red light when I start. It doesnt go to the M$Dash, even if I put in a game CD it doesnt load the game (normally it would skip the startup M$Dash and go to the game menu).

Can anyone give me any kind of options to fix this other than opening my xbox and using a mod-chip or hotswap hard-disk. I did call M$$$$ and they said it would be $99..... and it would take 10 days. Dude, i can do so much with $99.... like get 2 or more games, or get a nice mod-chip ...

any help is very much appreciated..

Hi,

So now I have X2.3 lite+ installed on my xbox and have X2 4977 bios on the mod. I burnt configmagic but doesnt run. I burnt slayers evox autoinstaller 2.5. That runs, but when I try to run configmagic from there, it just restarts the xbox.

With any other disc, game, audio it comes back with error 13. I know that my harddisk is not unlocked when xbox boots up. The harddisk is retail.  I had responses saying its cause eeprom is corrupted, thats why I wanted to try configmagic but I couldnt get that to work (and configmagic from slayer doesnt work either).

I feel its because of this...

Can anyone help me fix my xbox.
Please move this post to the correct forum if required....

hi,

when i run slayers evox. it shows C,E,F,G all 0. So I dont think it can access the harddisk. Anyways I tried option 2 that you said. It just shows like its copying files and says done, but doesnt fix anything.

I have tried to make a configmagic-FINAL cd with an eeprom, it doesnt boot like its mentioned in the forums/info. It just gives error 13 for that too.

TIA

Hi,

If slayer runs, then I would guess that options within it like configmagic-FINAL, hdd unlock and hdd-lock should also run.

So why is configmagic just making my slayers restart. Has anyone every used configmagic from slayers disc. Has it ever worked for anyone.

When I check the iso distributed for slayers 2.5, the file configmagic.ini points to d:\data\eeprom.bin. But then if d:\ drive is ur dvd drive, I dont see the folder d:\data, the data folder is within d:\system\all\configmagic\data .. so how is it supposed to work.

Anyone who knows that slayers runs without any changes or have made it work, please let me know.

TIA

I have seen this happen to my friend, it was the hard drive that just plain died.
Replacing the HD worked fine for him.

ooh that sux!

Dunno anything about this situation...but.

Maybe something happened during the update that hurt ur HDD.

I did some wrong button presses in GentooX one day, and accidently deleted everything on E,Including the files needed to run GentooX,it froze up,(had to hit power button)then I had to do a whole bunch of sh_t to get er up and runnin again,(had cut pasted all the files into my Gentoox\Home directory).

anywho...that was the very last day that my DVD drive ever worked like it was supposed to.

It was a Samsung, and it always read everything, but after that it barely read anything...People said it was just "coincidence" that my DVD Laser had gone out at the same time that I made this mistake....but I do NOT belive that, I believe that I Fu__ed up the hardware cause it "wigged" out when I did what I did.

I could be wrong, but is it possible that during MS's so called "Update", that everything wasnt there that was supposed to be there, so something got lost or corrupt along the way and messed up the HDD in kinda the same manner I think my DVD drive?(Any Hardware can die!)

Im just speculating here (that should be noted I guess), but I FIRMLY believe that what I did cause my dvd drive to error, and then it lost allignment or something, even though everyone here told me it was just "coincidence that my DVD drive went out at the EXACT same time that I made this horrible mistake.

I guess I should give the details of what I did b4 anyone asks?
I was running Gentoox, everything normals as it should be. had su - ed into root, and was cutting one folder from the root of E...but when I highlighted the folder I wanted to cut/paste, I didnt realise that off the top of my screen, the E (its just a folder in Gentoox XFFM) was highlighted, so I cut/pasted my whole E (untill it got to the Gentoox Files and went crazy on itself) into my gentoox home directoy.
