I just bought the XBOX Wireless Adapter (MN-740) from MS, and I was just about to install it when I realized that the instructions say that the installation CD will upgrade my XBOX's dashboard if needed. This worries me as I use the Mech Assault save game exploit to boot into XBOX Media Center, from which I watch my movies, listen to my music, and play my emulators. Hence I have to run Mech Assault and load the save game exploit each time I want to run my unsigned binaries.

I need to know two things before I install this thing:
1. Will this wireless adapter install CD stop me from being able to do what I am already doing?
2. If in the future I decide to go with a more permenant modding, such as an audio or font exploit, will the wireless adapter install CD kill any future chance of me doing this?

Someone, anyone, please give your 2 cents quickly, as I am itching to do away with this 40-foot ethernet cable running across my house to my XBOX, and replace it with a wireless setup. Thanks in advance.

The wireless dash upgrade updates the dash to 5659. I haven't looked to see if that dash is/isn't compatible (don't have time) with exploits, so can maybe someone else help or maybe do the search yourself. I'd help more if I wasn't in a hurry.

EDIT: Ok...I searched. 5659 has issues with exploits. Soooooooooooooooooo........

Get a mod chip or flash the Tsop.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would rather return this Wireless Adapter and get some other wireless bridge that doesn't want to update my dashboard.

Your dash version has nothing to do with the gamesave exploits. Unless you install that font/audio exploit, you're fine.

Just make sure you don't download any downloadable content from Mechassault, it'll patch it. But it can just be deleted easily.

My advice? Use the bridge, and get a chip if the gamesave thing gets annoying. Those font exploits aren't really worth the hassle.

I searched xbox-scene, and I found this about version 5659:

So I guess that I am safe. The dashboard exploits will not work, but I as I said, I do not use the dashboard exploits. I just use the save game exploit each time I want to run XBOX Media Center.

Aww crap...I should learn to comprehend things better. I was thinking all long you meant audio exploit for some reason.....even though you mentioned otherwise. Sorry about that. I need a vacation......

You'll love that adapter. I did, once I got over the price. But since I get a discount, it's all good.

Yeah the adapter is great. Before it, I was running an extremely long cable across my house into my bedroom, where my TV and XBOX are on a dresser in front of the bed. My wife kept tripping over the cable. Now my file server can broadcast wirelessly whatever games, songs, or movies my wife and I want... all the way into our bedroom.
