Yes Another Aladdin Live Problem With V1.6
« on: October 24, 2004, 04:36:00 PM »

I have flashed some Aladdin Live Plus chips I bought the other day from Divineo.cn with the Evox M8_16 bios.  I have installed Super Aladdin Chips before so I know how to do the LPC rebuild and checked it a hundred times.  I have also installed BT, D0, and L1.

The xbox will sometimes boot both retail bios mode and M8_16 mode.  However, this is not consistent.  I've done 3 1.6 xboxes in the last few hours and they will work sometimes but not all the time.  Sometimes the retail bios wont work sometimes it will but the hacked bios will not show anything on the screen but other times it will.

I am not really sure what the problem is.  Any help would be great.

Thank

Try grounding D0, or messing around with that kind of stuff, did you try putting D0 to BT?

Ok.  I've tried grounding D0 and I have installed D0 and BT to the chip but that didn't work so I just grounded D0 but to no avail.  I have tugged on all my LPC rebuild points and D0 but nothing.

I have reflashed the chip but still nothing.  I bought 25 chips anf have tried to swap the chips but still nothing.

Don't only tug on the lpc rebuild, make sure its getting good connection to the correct thing, and not bridging any points....Can you take any pictures?

I will try to redo everything with shorter wires.  However, I've done this before with the Super Aladdin Chips and my wires were no shorter than they are right now and everything worked perfectly.

I've got the same problem(aladdin live on 1.6 with M8 1.6). When the box has stayed turned off and unplugged from the wall, i've got the same problem, so now i allways keep the xbox plugged in the wall, and it boots every time. I don't know how to fix it, i guess you get what you pay for when you buy a cheapmod like aladdin live

Has anyone else had the same problem?  It is really random.  It will sometimes happen and sometimes be fine.

The common thing is an intermittent faulty pinheader socket (The one installed at the factory) Thats also why sometimes the programmers don't see the chip.
Fit a header socket in the quick solder slot and use that to connect the chip.

Ok, I used the quick solder method.  It didn't help.  It's so random though that i can't figure it out.
