Had the exact same problem as you for the last week.  Go get Phoenix Bios Loader signed and install it.  Takes care of it real fast.

yes you can play a dvd movie with a softmod.  You need  to install a dvd media player onto it.  You can find them in the "usual places".

Usualy it will only loop a few times, then boot up.  Are you having it loop infinitley? (Dont get me wrong or nuthin, happens alot)

Mine is the same box as yours. It has the Focus video chip and therefore requires the new bios (Evox M7 or X2 4979 BFM). The bios also requires PBL 1.3.5i to load them. I used the audio exploit to start all these. It plays backups OK.

Big trouble......... Added M7 bios to 'bioes' folder within PBL 1.3.5i and ftp'd the Phoenix loader files & folders to the C:. Now I get error 21 on startup. Tried putting the original Mech assault in so I could FTP back and remove my changes (not been near the UDATA folders) but now the original EvoX screen boots then quickly disappears giving the error 21 screen again. Game save hack must be still there as the original game still gives me the 'boot linux' option, just now the EvoX dash quickly disappears, giving the error 21 screen.
