Error 16 is the dash... read the tuts. You need to maintain a clean copy of the xboxdash.xbe for your xbox to boot using a softmod. hope you have a backup...

well i did make a backup c: on my harddrive before i did this. i thought if anything went wrong, i could always put the backup in but i cant even load mechassault.

so what do i do with backed up xboxdash.xbe?

Sounds like you need to hotswap your drive into a PC or another modded Xbox and rename your backup back to the real xboxdash.xbe. If you're doing a soft-mod, never ever do anything to the original xboxdash.xbe! If you want to use an alternate MS dash, call it msdash.xbe or something and have evox (or whatever your box is booting to) load that instead of xboxdash.xbe.

He probably used the hotswap xlinux method to fix it.

and as for having a backup of your original xboxdash.xbe, if you didn't back it up when you have the chance, you can still download it from Direct Connect.

I only know those two...

**THATS TO INSTALL THE EXPLOIT AND WE ARENT DOING THAT
1. burn a cd with the contents of xlinux (you should have extracted it with isobuster) and with a folder with cstuff

2. get your pc to boot up the cdrom first
3. make sure the primary master isnt hooked up to the pc and make sure its close to the xbox
4. open up the xbox. (theres tutorials for this)
5. boot up your pc with xlinux in the cdrom drive. when you see that weird guy on your screen and it says BOOT:... quickly hit pause break. DO THIS NOW!!
6. THIS IS THE HARD PART!!!!!
7. turn on your xbox and when you see the big X loading quickly take out the XBOX ide cable and replace it with the pc ide cable.
8. do this carefully!!!!! cant stress this enough but you have to do it quickly... very quickly
**NOTE: dont cover the hard drive hole with your fingers, dont touch the bottom of the harddrive, dont be stupid!!
9. once you did this press the spacebar on your pc (this will unpause your pc)
10. while its booting you shouldnt see any errors, you should see hda50 hda51
12. stuff to type get ready
13. ls /dev you should see hda50, hda51
14. mkdir XBOXC
15. mount -t fatx /dev/hda51 /XBOXC
16. cd ~
17. mount -t /dev/hdc /cdrom
18. cd cdrom
19. ls
make sure you see stuff there
20. cd ~
21. cp -r -f /cdrom/XBOXCDRIVE (or whatever you named this folder)/* /XBOXC
what you just did was copy the clean xbox c drive to your corrupted cdrive
*****NOTE THIS TUTORIAL SUCKS REALLY BAD******
i just showed you what i did and i advice you that you dont use it
