Why not just set PBL to load the retail Xbox BIOS when the disc tray is open on boot?

QUOTE
Now if you have xbedump you'll take the default.xbe from crimson skies and put it in the same directory as XBEdump....then go into the Command prompt and (in that directory) type xbedump default.xbe -font

Then put the default.xbe back in the crimson skies folder on your xbox (or on your PC...then transfer it to your box).

I have mordens PBL MXM softmod hack installed courtesy of 007 game save audio xploit.

If I -font sign the crimson skies xbe put it back in the "image" burn it to dvdr and boot it from xbox I thought I read in one post that it will "bypass" and eventually boot into the game.

scenario:
put -font signed xbe crimson skies dvd into xbox.

xbox boots up and complains that its not a real xbox dvd...

this triggers the font hack...?

system reboots ?

font hack is loaded and then game starts ?

anyone confirm this?

Is there an app that lets you look into an image and just extract the xbe? Qwix? xFER? Craxtion?

Where is that xbe located? Its default.xbe right?

thanks for your patience.

I just tried it and I got the following: (is that normal?)

So sign it with -audio...then try it out!

AND DONT RUN PBL! Signed your game makes PBL unnecessary.

grr.gif ), font exploit, 40 GHD. Burnt the dvd and lauched it from the dashboard. At first it would stop at the first spot as giantboog, but I kept reloading the game. Each time further than before. I finished the training mission and kept going. I now play it and will only run into troubles when I FIRST attempt to launch or after a while of playing and I attempt to change planes. I am running PBL though.

So wait...Phoenix Bios loader causes the problem?

I noticed you told us to stop PBL from loading (ie: put it in the APPS folder)...so...PBL is the problem? I've been trying to get this darn game working for DAYS now...and no one seems to have the answer...so hey...I might as well try it out smile.gif

I'll let you know how it turns out....

PS: How is everyone downloading from XBINS? I can't find ANY download links on XBINS...

Well...it seems to be working so far....crimson Skies is up and running fine (before it wouldn't run at all)....

Now here's my dilemna...I want that really annoying blinked red LED light to stop flashing...as it's incredibly distracting! I found some LED color changers on goukis site...which gave me a nice solid green LED....and also PBL makes it solid green by default....but....how do I make my LED solid green whilst still keeping Bert and Ernie reloaded?

BY the way...thanks for the advice...I think you should define it a bit more....for people (like myself) who have never used XBEDUMP before...as I couldn't quite understand what you meant.....but I fiddled with it.....

Thanks again

Well, digital.....EVOLUTION X is what's detecting your HDD...PBL isn't a program at all....it just kind of "unlocks your XBOX" so you can run unsigned .xbes

I've never heard of anyones extra HDD space being detected ONLY after PBL runs.  That's quite strange...Evolution X should (and usually does) detect your extra space.

This does work and it works perfectly....I really dont like having to run PBL EVERY TIME I want to run something other than Crimson Skies, but until I beat IT...I'll continue to do so.

Do you know how to make your xbox boot to just Evox? If not...check out some tutorials here....

add default boot options to evox.ini ....makes switching PBL off simple  rolleyes.gif

Item "Default Evox boot",@292
Item "Default PBL boot",@293

[Action_92]

Info "Turn off PBL"
Progress "Turning off PBL ..."
rename "c:default.xbe" "c:pbl.xbe"
rename "c:evoxdash.xbe" "c:default.xbe"

[Action_93]

Info "Turn on PBL"
Progress "Turning on PBL ..."
rename "c:default.xbe" "c:evoxdash.xbe"
rename "c:pbl.xbe" "c:default.xbe"

ho ho ho  blink.gif

xboxwannabe nice understandable code there...and should work like a CHARM....but which version of EVOX are you using?

I'm using the newest one and the renaming isn't happening....It runs the rest of the code fine asks me if I want to turn PBL off...I say yes...so when I look back on my C: logically there should be a file called PBL.xbe....but..there isn't  sad.gif

So...it leads me to believe that maybe the rename command changed with the versions? Or...something....

Anyone else tried it?

PS: Very good idea by the way!
Also thanks...I found xbins now  smile.gif

DigitalMan...if you're talking about running Crimson Skies off of the HDD...yes it will work...it's what I run it from!

The code still didn't work XBOXwannabe so I just added "PBL" at the top and pointed it to the Bios Loader in my APPS section...so I just keep pressing A a bunch and my PBL will load...only lose about 2 seconds smile.gif that'll work for me!

How can I get rid of PBL so the fonts will boot directly to EVOX?
I would like to run PBL as an app

Simple....depending on which version you have (1.3.5i has some different files)

Just look for all the files associated with PBL (Except EVOXdash.xbe, Evox.ini, and default.xbe) get rid of the boot.cfg phoenix.raw and xboxrom.bin.  Just dont delete the things associated with Evolution X and dont delete your default.xbe.

Then your box will boot to EVOX.

Then just go to your apps folder...and follow this tutorial to make Phoenix Bios run as a program:

http://freexevoxtut.....com/index2.htm

And if you want to get rid of that darn FLASHING red LED....you can go to the downloads section and download the color changing BERT and ERNIE files.

Dont forget to use XBEdump to sign the crimson skies default.xbe....if you dont know how to do it...ask again smile.gif

I didn't know how to use it as I always used PBL before.

Good luck
