 then plug in the video cord and see if the game loads if you can get a game to load see if you can get another one to load then try loading a couple befor you load 007, if 007 works crap your pants, and then ftp to the xbox and fix the files how you want them. If none of these work i have 1 final suggestion take the xbox to the tallest building within a 50 mile radious of where you live, and drop it from the top, and when it hits the groud start crying.

do you have your hdd key backed up? Then you can unlock the drive and re-edit the xboxdash.xbe

And for the next time: Save xboxdash.xbe as orgdash.xbe and hexedit THAT file!

Always leave the xboxdash.xbe intact!

Sorry, been away from the computer for a while now, but thanks to all who have replied so far.

Unfortunately, I now know the error of my ways, but am still stuck with the problem.

No HD Key backed up I'm afraid.

Any further suggestions please?  If not, I guess I'll have to get it hard-modded like mine.

N.B. Just thought, I have the original HD from my box (which works fine and is unlocked).  How would I go about putting that into my friend's one?  Should I read up on hot-swapping or is there another way to do it?

Cheers for the offer, eyece, but I'm not sure that that would help (would it?).  I have a backup of my xboxdsash.xbe, but can't figure out a way to get back into the HD so I can FTP into it.

I've even tried putting the stuffed HD in my chipped box, but then, as it's still locked from the original xbox, I simply get a list of error code descriptors come up on the screen (it's always nice to see a new error screen - was getting bord with the old ones!) and an error code 6 - HD error.

Had the thought of putting it in my hard-modded box, and prepping it with slayers, thus formatting it, and starting again.  But alas, as it's not unlocked, no joy in my xbox.

Getting increasingly frustrated by this, but, as ever, am extremely grateful for those who have taken the time to read and reply.

Any more suggestions would be gratefully received,

Any more ideas about using my original retail unlocked (via evox 3921) working HDD in my friend's xbox?  I think we can pretty much write his off, unless we put it into a PC and do it from there (which I've just realised would work either because it's still locked via factory seettings.)

Think I might have to admit defeat with this.

Still haven't been able to fix it.

Wait - try a hotswap. The dashboard is failing but obviously its still temp-unlocking good.

Try booting, waiting to the error blah blah...check the tutorials...
