Usb Memory Stick Hack

Not all memory sticks are compatible with the xbox.  The standard dashboard may not have the correct drivers for your memory stick.

your stick is too big. Just buy a 32mb one (they're pretty cheap these days) and it will work.

Usb Memory Stick Hack
« Reply #3 on: October 03, 2003, 06:45:00 AM »

Thanks for the replies

Well I went out and bought a 32MB Belkin USB stick
and tried it in my modified USB Game controller cable
as well as with the Phantasy Star ... USB adapter in a Game controller.

This time the screen doesnt flash but it doesnt say anything either.
I try many things. 1. start up and go to dashboard
insert the USB card, the XBox beeps this time, the light in the USB stick goes on and goes off a few seconds later. I wait a bit (several hours ) come back and switch from the dashboard menu to the memory option
thinkning that it woudl be formatting the card in the meantime. Still the XBox memory screen doesnt recognize the stick, nothing, nada.
I unplug the card and hear a beep, I plug it in again and hear a beep.

I get no messages from XBox or anything.
I tried it using the Phatasy Star USB adapter as well as my modified Game-controller extesuion/USB female plug.
Exactly the same results.

Once again I am using a recent XBox mfg: July 2003, Connexant video chip suggests it's  version 1.3 or so.

Is anybody using a recent XBox as well ?
Do you think that MS has closed down this exploit ?
