my hats off to MS. finally getting smart and killing the bugs. this should have been done way way way way long ago. the only way this thing should be moddable should be with a chip... and from a corporate standpoint they should be cleaning that up too. maybe move the LPC points far far away from eachother. lol.

good ol MS.. so many mistakes.

ya, get a modchip.  Like people have been saying since July 4th.  We all knew that these exploits wouldn't last, but were just told things like.. "you are just mad cause you had to spend money on a modchip."  Its not like you weren't warned.

It's not like they can make any permanent changes to the hardware, and since the software is located on the HD you could probably remove the update with a HD-swap or something. Don't panic smile.gif

Unless you are a LIVE user, and then the update will be forced every time you connect to live.  So as of right now, the exploits dont work with the new dash version, and modchips are not affected.

but the price of an xbox is supposed to drop this month anyway - so why not just have 2 boxes and forget the worry?

ya I just got my friends brand new xbox here.  Runnin K:5101 D:4920  I'm pretty sure its a V1.3  dont' know if you can even try the 007 hack or not but I did and it don't work.

I've made sure the structure was right and everything but 007 says "unable to load save game."  I'm not sure if its the xbox or me not setting up things right since this is my first exploit attempt.

I've read some people having problems with the platinum edition, which I have, but I'm just not sure now.  Any info would be helpful.  Thanks -crackbaby

Why do you call it the "007/MA audio exploit". Surely they are seperate things, all tho you will have to excuse me as I haven't been here in a while..

Let's try to clear things up as there is three exploits:

The 007 game save exploit + The MA game save exploit
The font hack
The audio exploit

All of these do not work?

I forgot to add, the no modchip solution I used was the Mech Assault save file with EvoX inside of it (the save game called Run Linux). Like I said, above when I tried to load that save game again, it locked up my XBox. I did all this this morning right before I had to leave for work, but I'm sure it's pretty much a done deal. Like I said, it's not that big deal for me because I'm just going to go out tonight and buy a new XBox. I called one place and they'll give me $90 for trade-in, and I paid $130 for my second used XBox. So I have to eat $40 bucks, which is better than eating the full $130.  ohmy.gif

But at least others can benefit from my experience......

That appears to be the case SpikeMage, but now I wonder if I get a new XBox how will I mod it via the exploit? If I go to the dash, it'll try to log onto XBL. So I guess if I'm starting over start with Mech Assault in the DVD drive and and run the Evox app and install the appropriate files. Then hopefully when I place the music CD in when I reboot, I'll automatically go into the Music manager instead of the dashboard and I won't log onto XBL, or else I'm right back to where I started. Should be interesting to see how all this works out. OR I could just get a modchip........we'll see what happens....

I'm also wondering, does ths affect XBoxes without XBL accounts. Will it automaticallyl try to update or is an account needed on the XBox for this to happen? I just won't put in my memory card with my XBL account on it, and since the new Box won't have any XBL info on it I should be OK? I hope?

Interesting, I have been unable to use the 007/MA exploits on my 5101 and 4817 they just lock up the system. I have never connected to an xbox live game, so would I be using xbox live v2.0? Is there an easy way to find out what version of xbox live you are running?

I'm sorry.  I should have just said the audio exploit.  I just referred to it as the MA/007 audio exploit because you need one of those two programs to install the exploit.  Even though the audio exploit no longer works, the game save exploits for MA/007 still do.  One of the big issues with this is you can no longer save games to your PC because you can't eject the MA/007 disc from the DVD tray.

Apharmd Battler if your going to buy a new xbox just do a hot swap with the hard drives. Get evox running off of cd on the new one and fix your problems like that. That's what I'd do, besides doing the jumpers and flashing the TSOP.
