I have used the mordens audio hack and after X2_4977 is loaded I am able to eject the DVD-ROM drive. However, to FTP and see into the D drive itself you have to use an option supplied to you by morden audio hack to refresh the DVD-ROM drive. I think this answers your question.
However, I think but am not completely sure that the font hack should do the same, except without having to insert an audio CD first.
