This is not B.S.  The only thing I had to do different was connect my "OS Drive" as "Primary Master" and my "Xbox Drive" as "Secondary Master" (instead of vice versa as the instructions tell you).  Then, you have to choose option "3" instead of "1" to select the Xbox hard drive while using some of the utilities.  Otherwise, it worked perfectly.

I've now modded 2 XBOXs using the "Game Save Exploit" (007 with EvoX).  Once EvoX is running, I use it to copy "ltools" to the Xbox.  Once "ltools" is running, it has an option to install the UDE (Ultimate Dashboard Exploit).  At that point, I have a fully functioning hacked Xbox.  Then, I use the instructions at the beginning of this thread to upgrade the hard drive.

This method no longer works on the newer dashboards.  If you have an older xbox then you shouldn't have any issues with it.  The last two newer boxes I tried it on I had to end up doing the hotswap trick to get into the drives as the gamesave hacks didn't work.

I just followed the tutorial and now im getting error 6. I had a friend do the softmod and now im tring to put in a 80gb drive. I also tried using http://www.supertrick.net/tutorials/softmod003.asp
and got the same problem so i unlocked the drive and tried you tutorial. Now i cannot even unlock the drive. Any ideas why i would get the error and better yet how i can unlock the drive?

Also just curious why the password to lock the original drive is different from the password to lock the replacement? It seems to me that they should be the same.

Is there another way to unlock the drive, i know the password i used to lock it but unlockx and hdunlock dont work.

I guess i could have put in the password incorrectly but i doubt it.

Any ideas, otherwise im off to get a new one...

Get the following programs from the usual places:
atapwd
Hdlock
Hdunlock
Hddisabl
007 gamesave exploit (or mech assault)
liveinfo
hdprepar
HDD_Driver
Windows 95/98/ME bootdisk maker

so I have found atapwd,  liveinfo, hdprepar, and the mechassault exploit. I was wondering where the usual places are for the rest of them? I know its a noob question but I have searched them all and cannot find them.

I need:

Hdlock
Hdunlock
Hddisabl
HDD_Driver
Windows 95/98/ME bootdisk maker

hi guys,
i successfully unlocked backed-up and relocked my original HDD.
but my problem is finding a key for my new HDD samsung sv80004h
on my primary cpu AMD 64 3400 + live info doesn't recognize my new HDD and when i try to load my eeprom it says it's not a valid one.
i tried it on my other CPU Pentium 4 1.6ghz and liveinfo detects the hard drive but it still says my eeprom is invalid.
i thaught maybe i didn't need to load my eeprom file sinse it showed me a generated password for the new HDD.
i used it to lock it and i made sure it was locked before i put it in my xbox.
but i get an error screen after the X logo loads.

My questions are:
do i need to load the eeprom?
why doesn't liveinfo recognize my eeprom?
is there another program that can generate a key for my new HDD?
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hey krukaze,

I'm assuming you have a v1.6 xbox.  You'll need to get a hold of xboxhdm v1.9, this'll help you with all of your questions.

Badhex,
in your next tutorial edition maybe you can address that if you have written BRFR at the 600h offset of your drive, even with a format and OS install the modification may still be there.  If you launch hdd_driver and that drive is the first physical drive, then it will still detect it as an xbox hd and select that one to work from (since it starts from physical disk 0, and seq. goes though to 255).  If the user is not careful they can overwrite their dirve.  This is the case if they do not follow your instructions fully and left the os drive master.
