Alright, I have an action replay, all the necessary files, a PC, a willing xbox, and enough "gumption" to soft-mod my xbox. I've read all the different tutorials out there and have been practically bombarded with information. I'm unsure about the version of my box (refurb), however it has a 4/2002 date. Here is a list of things I would like to be able do with my xbox after a softmod:

1.  Play burned games.
2.  Watch DVDs without dongle.
3.  Use emulators.
4.  Use XBoxMediaPlayer.
5.  Play original games.
6.  Use XBox Live.
7.  Access to the original MS Dashboard. (optional)
8.  Rip audio CDs.

That's about it. Now, I've heard a lot of different answers to the same question. I would like to know what is the best course of action; i.e. bert and ernie, phoenix, free-x, audio exploit. Basically, which is best for me? Like I said, i've read the tutorials (all 836,738,911 of them), I just need to be steered into the right direction. Thanks.

Thanks, so would I better off just going with Tut's last tutorial about the Phoenix Bios loader (loading everytime with MA/007) or just going ahead with the audio exploit? And, what, if any, are the drawbacks of the audio exploit?

no custom soundtracks with audio exploit... clock loop after unplug for more than 4 hours or so with the fonts...

then im gona use the 007 hack on the weekend or next month x.x (DAMN U LOW ALLOWENCE x.x) so if i were to use this "audio exploit" i am hearing so much about what would it take and were would i get it.....wat is it were can i read about it

yep, the fonts are what cause the clock loop, not the default.xbe

is there any way to play xbl after i put any of these mods (cept a chip) in the thang?

What exactly is the clock loop and how does one avoid it?  I want to softmod using the phoenix loader and the fonts exploit but have only now read about the clock loop problem.  Why does it happen and how could it be avoided?  Also, is there a good way to fix it if it does happen and what are signs of a clock loop?

The Clock loop happens after you have unplugged your Xbox (it dose not happen all the time) to avoid the problem is not to unplugged your Xbox after you have soft mod it.

if you get a clock loop, your xbox will boot up for like, 5 mins but never make it to evox...
the solution is to use bert and ernie reloaded or bigfotns or shit like that... they will eventually boot evox, then you use a hacked msdash that will allow you to set the time.
