I used the multimeter on my bosses fried box and found a connection between two of the lpc points.  I think i am going to need a desoldering pump to get the chip off ... unless someone knows another way  uhh.gif

Im not going to give up learning to chip these boxes as i quite enjoy it and enjoy a challenge (last one being a problem with xbox ftp client that has taken me 2 days to figure out)

To everyone else having problems with crazy light on aladdin chip install - check the lpc points arent crossed, mine to the eye appears to be soldered perfectly but my multimeter says different.  It fixed one of my boxes, i hope it fixes the other, i'll let you know how i get on

ps if you are having trouble uploading files from one xbox to the other using xbox ftp client, try downloading them instead,  for me it works a lot better.

for removing solder, i've always used desoldering braid, it's pretty simply you just place this between the iron and the solder you want to remove, and the solder melts into the braid.
