Bert Ernie...free-x..clock Set...oops
« on: August 17, 2003, 09:47:00 PM »

My friend went out and bought a xbox recently, and it turned out to be a 1.3.  He wanted me to mod it for him, and I told him the options of what I could do, and he picked the free-x way, as it was cheapest for him.

So I did the gamesave thing, put bert and ernie, and put free-x on the HD.  I was having trouble getting the .xtf thing to work, as I couldnt find *.X.T.F in the hex editor, so I figured I'd do some research and fix it later, as it was working well enough for him (xboxdash wasn't working yet..).

Well, he unplugged his xbox when he was done playing.  And the clock got reset.  Now when the box is turned on it gets into a continuous loop of booting.  First the animation does its thing, then the clock screen starts to appear, but then it locks up, and reboots.

I'm pretty much at a loss of how to fix it.  At first I figured I'd just open it up and wire my modchip in it and ftp in, fix everything up,a nd take the chip out, but then it hit me; his xbox is 1.3, and I have a homebrew chip.  I'd like to save the 29-wire thing as a last resort.

Right now all I can think to do the HD hotswap and then send a fixed xboxdash in that way, but I'm not sure how.

If anyone can think of any better ways, asides from buying a 1.3 compatible chip, please let me know.  Or, give me any tips for the HD hotswap or point me to some good tutorials (Will check the scene's tut section in a few minutes).

Thanks
