Tried a complete reformat/install of xp... still won't work. Maybe I should try 98?

I don't have an MS card... might be necessary, might not. Seems to me the madcatz would work with a good hardware setup. Guess I'll unsolder everything and try and return this madcatz card. Memory cards are a lot easier to clean up than motherboards  cool.gif

I tried both using the whole UDATA folder for this, and it's lone subfolder. Neither work. The action replay software doesn't even detect the pre-loaded saves that came on this card. Any ideas?

You are dragging the zipped save file itself, directly from your computer to the left pane of the AR software interface, right?

If you using a rar file, then you have to extract it, then zip it up with the directory paths in it.  If you're using a zipped gamesave, then just drag it directly.

Try the RunLinux save from codejunkies.com.  Just download and move it to the card.

Good luck.

Well, turns out I wasn't quite out of the woods yet. It's not recognizing the card. When I plug it in the usb port the action replay jewel comes on and goes off at the same time that xp recognizes the card. Drivers are installed fine. Any ideas?

Edit: The big green jewel also blinks once every time I start AR. The way I got it to work before was to reinstall the drivers while AR was running, but now it says that's impossible  wink.gif

Alright, got the card back to stock... time to take it back and tell bestbuy a bs story and get an ms card  smile.gif

You might have to modify the AR drivers to recognize your memory card.  You might need to put in the USB device settings for your specific card as opposed to the AR card that comes with it.  You could use the USB Dev Kit Demo to find out the settings, probably.  I did that with a cheap 3rd party card, and I was able to install the card using my modified inf file w/ the right settings.  Then I could use AR with it and it worked great.  Check out the "no action replay" tutorial by Vintage Guitar for more information.  I'm not sure this applies to your situation, but it might be worth a shot.

I'd reccomend using my tutorial and telling interact to screw themselves. Because MS OWNS interact. and Interact memory cards and their AR is SHIT. only their software isn't hehe wink.gif

I've connected my controller to my PC (I split the connector right between the small round connector and the actual connector that goes into the console).

I used the driver from AR in order to mount my Mad Catz mem. card. All works well (I ran the Run Linux (EvoX actually but it says Run Linux).

Question. I want to use the savegame from xbox-linux.sf.net (Mech, Installer). I need to get the game into the AR PC database. I tried adding a UDATA folder and copying the save game into it but it doesn't get added. I tried editing the pcdatabase.dat file but that seems to crash the software. Any idea???

Just copy the entire ZIP file into the save directory in your PC.  No need to unzip it.

Just a note, here is something else I tried...

1) Download Mech-Installer-1.0.zip
2) Copy to c:Program FilesDatelAction ReplaySaves
3) Load Action Replay but file does not appear in the PC Database list.

So, obviously  it needs to be added to the pcdatabase.dat file somehow.

Perhaps I need to provide more detail as to what I have done.

1) Download the Mech-Installer.zip from xbox-linux.sf.net
2) Unzip the contents
3) Create a UDATA folder
4) Copy the folder 4CXXXX into UDATA
5) Re-zip the UDATA directory
6) Copy the zip into the SAVES directory

If you're telling me that steps 4,5,6 are useless then this is good. I will try this when I get home tonight.

Thanks

Actually, steps 2 to 6 is not needed.

Just download the zipped save file, open your AR software, drag the zipped savefile to the right pane of the AR interface (with your AR memory card plugged in).  The green bar will slowly fill up with orange, indicating it's being moved to the card.  That's it.

Hope this helps.

Tried that, keeps saying "Not a Valid XBox Save" or something like that.

I see the Community has a Install Linux, Emergency Linux and Restore Dashboard savegames already. Trouble is they don't seem to do anything when I run them inside of mechassault.

Anyhow, now AR keeps crashing whenever I click on something, tried reinstalling stuff, rebooting and whatever. Very buggy software if you ask me.

Thanks for all you help.

No dice ... I keep getting "this is not a valid xbox save".   Tried Mechinstaller-1.0.zip, tried MechassaultwithEvox.rar (changed to zip first).  ???????????
