Good A Station From 250c To 480c?
« on: April 07, 2004, 07:31:00 PM »

I have edited this message, sorry for my english, remember i'm mexican, spanish is my language, and i think is just a expresion problem, but i'm doing the best i can, but thanx for any suggestions that you bring to me, i'm learning with all your messages that you post in your great forum :D

The questions are:

1.- Is my soldering station temp (from 250 Celsius Degrees to 480 Celsius Degrees) ok for all moddin soldering jobs?
i mean xbox 1st gen mods, cheapmods, tsop flashing, etc, ps2, ps1 mods...

2.- A job that i want to do, it is to make a multibios tsop, so i have to solder, the vcc, a19, and ground points to a spdt switch with my soldering station, any temp suggest for this points?

Bye and thanx

Your soldering station should be fine .. just as long as you know how to use it ... Most of the time a $7.99 one from radio shack will do the job just as good as your station can. Ive personally used both and as long as you know what you are doin you shoud be fine.

Yeah i know that a cheap radioshack soldering pen would be good for soldering, but the problem is that in Mexico is hard to get a pen below the 25 watt, i soldered about seven apple x v mods without any trouble using a 30 watt pen, even the resistors and d0, but i want to have the less risk posible to solder, i'm not good solder, but not bad too, i gonna practice but i think would be cheaper to buy a good station (the only one option below the 750 Farenheit/25watt here in my country) that buying a new mobo/xbox

I gonna use 250 Celsius degrees for soldering do and other small points, in lpc points i'm going to use about 300 celsius degrees, so i think this is gonna be safest to my soldering jobs, thanx a lot for all your help and patience for understanding my poor english, if you need help with spanish here i am :D

Try riggin your 25Watt iron to a Rheostat or commonly known as a dimmer switch. You can reduce the current going through it effectively reducing the Power.

Power = Current x Voltage. (P=E*I)
