Overheating Or Bad Solder?
« on: April 05, 2004, 07:35:00 PM »

I installed my aladdin advance chip in my xbox and seemed to be working. But when i boot up my xbox after about 10-15 mins the screen will go black then loose connection to the tv and the LED go solid orange then flash green. This happens everytime. I know it is not a problem with the tv or tv connections. I am thinking about resoldering the chip but could anyone give me some ideas of what the problem could be.

did you plug the fan in, and are the wires to it ok (not pinched/ripped)?

sounds like an overheat to me. But then again, I have also seen this happen when the connection for the A/V port got fudged up from too much constant inserting/removing. Wiggling around can be a good indication if this is the problem or not.

I resoldered my chip but now i think i just messed it up.  When i try to boot the chip the LED goes red orange green then shuts down.  Then the LED flashes green and xbox boots up without the chip.  Any ideas before I break my xbox?

Sounds like your D0 is not grounding. Check your connection there.
