Can The Exploit Work Without The Font Exploit?

I successfully altered my XBOX using the MA gamesave exploit. I have no problems FTP'ing and playing Tetris Worlds Online from my box ( Small enough to fit on the retail drive @ 430MB ). I was able to use the XBMP 2.4 and Boxplorer programs with ease. My main question is can you still use the exploit without performing the "FONT" swap ( exploit ). I ask this because it seems to interfere with the MS Dashboard, every time i select MS dashboard from the Evox menu it resets back to the evox menu without going into the default dashboard. If anyone has defeated this, assistance would be greatly appreciated

Not using the font exploit lets you unplug, right?
Can it let you play Xbox originals still?

If so, can someone tell me how to do it without the font exploit?
