Using Portable Zip Drive
« on: July 06, 2003, 09:37:00 AM »

I've read on the internet that you can use a USB Zip Drive on a Playstation2 and use a Zip Diskette as a memory card... but I'm not sure if the Xbox can do that. Maybe you can connect a USB Zip Drive the same way you can connect the Mega X-Key. i.e. Using a USB adaptor. But then you might run into the problem with software... unless you can use the Mega X-Key software. That would be great!

You cannot use a ZIP drive on the XBox.  It doesn't understand the disc structure.  The PS2 can use it, but you have to boot from a special disc to make it work.  You can use a Flash (Pen Drive) do transfer files.  I have a 256m one that works fine, but once it is formatted by the Xbox only Xboxes can use it, the MXK software and others cannot read it.

Hello, People ..have i got some good news for u biggrin.gif  . I have stumbled upon this company that has the perfect pen drives that works with the magaxkey software & is recognized by Xbox. I paid about $20 for the pen drive (32mb). Oh yeah , it also comes with a usb cable. Here's the company info.

HEDY COMPUTER .CO.,LTD.

The pen drives are called BabyDisk. I've fromatted it with the xbox & megaxkey software , I've transferred game saves back & forth. I've also tried this on all versions of windows (etc 98/2000/xp) They all worked great. So, give this company (FlashUSBdepot) a try. I did & i'm sure we all can benefit from this.

The Mega X-Key software might work with other drives, but it could also corrupt the data since it was written to work with only a certain type of card.  As long as you format the card regualaly there shouldn't be a problem, but for $34 I can get a real MXK retail kit.  That gives you the gameport to USB cable, a USB Extention cable for you PC, and support from the MXK team.
