Why Would Anybody...
« on: July 02, 2003, 07:46:00 PM »

If you had read the information at your disposal properly, you would now realise that the whole idea of this is that you DO NOT require a modded XBOX to use this exploit.  This exploit is for people that don't have a chipped XBOX, although it can also be done by people with a chipped XBOX.

Mega-X Key and 007 is all you need.  This will allow you to use this exploit on a "virgin" XBOX.

I did a recent review on the other things a Mega-X Key is good for at www.emuxbox.com ... Lik-Sang were kind enough to send me one for free last week  rolleyes.gif

My apologies for my tone also.  It's just a rarity to see someone that reads documentation, before posing a question  blink.gif

Thanks w00,

No problem with the tone... Its actually quite gentle compared to most of what I've heard from people trying to help me. LOL!

I just read your reveiw of the MegaX. Its great, and it cleared up a lot.  Thanks!  I think I'll order mine tommorow.

Mucho Gracias.

you don't have to split anything. You can just overwrite with one, then back to the other, and vice versa

some one comfirm this

thats sounds very risky
who else does that?

I confirm it. I've reflashed my TSOP with Evox from an X2 4976 bios back to a 4034 kernel original bios without any problems. I've gone back and forth over probably over 15 times now experimenting with this new stuff.

The only risk I see is power failure during the 1 min or so process.

You could split your bios if you really wanted to, but it's not required.

I'm still wondering if you can make the 4034 kernel original bios into a 256k bios and flash it onto the TSOP on 1.2 and 1.3 Xbox's without any problems. This would make any Xbox compatible with Complex !Loader 1.0.

If that worked, I'd imagine the 1MB 4034 kernel bios would be fine on a 1.1 box.

I've flashed the 3944 kernel bios onto my TSOP as well, but went with 4034 since it's compatible with Complex !Loader 1.0. I had no problems.

Oh yeah, I have a 1.0 Xbox.

Obviously, using the 4034 original bios with Complex Loader 1.0 is a tad safer than flashing back and forth. Too bad 007 AUF takes about 1 min or so to load up before you can kick off Complex.

I thought that I read that they said it wouldn't be likely that a build compatible with all versions would be released?

Special Notes:

Due to the nature of bios patching it is very unlikely that a single patch
could ever support all shipping retail Xboxes; however for those who might like
to try, we've included source so that you can create patches of your own.

So, there's still a valid possibility that flashing your TSOP with the 4034 bios may be the best way to assure compatibility.

I posted this question the day the complex !loader was first released. There were no tutorials, and as I said, I was trying to clarify what people on IRC were telling me (which turns out, were complete and utter lies.)

I am infinately gratefull to people who are trying to HELP me! And I'm apologize if it came off any other way. What I don't like, is people who assume I'm half-retarded because the new exploit intrests me. People like that can easily ignore me if they want.

I only wish I had a dollar for every .nfo, tutorial, and thread that I have read in the past week!  I've learned so much, and it has actually been quite fun. And thanks for all the help everyone!

Musical, thanks for taking the time to flame me (honestly) because I was hoping to clear that up.  More power to you and the 420 cause  wink.gif
