That error means you don't have the hdd connected on your pc's primary ide cable.

ok i have tried several ide cables but i still get the same message...

i know that it is connected to the primary ide cable because it detects the hdd in the primary master slot in the bios before xboxhdm loads up.

also when i choose option 1 from the first menu and linux begins to load, it checks for the integrity of the partition table on the primary master and it sez there is an error reading it.

please help me i dont know what else to do!

You can get another hard drive. might as well upgrade it to a bigger one. Use xboxhdm to build an xbox drive out of the new one, then use Liveinfo to load the eeprom and see what the hard drive key needs to be set to make the new drive work in your xbox. then lock the hard drive with that key and pop it in your xbox. it should load up like a new xbox. then you can re-softmod it.
