Take a look in the tutorial section about boot disks, knowing exactly how it is to work is a bonus.
I use DVD-R most the time with a dummy file but also there are the auto-installers such as Slayers. I have luck with some DVD+R too.

If you are creating the ISO (Boot Disc) just sling in a dummy file of about 850mb before creation . It will let you burn it then. AID 2.11 has this facility to build a dummy file built in.

Yes just rename the movie file to abc.dat
