formatting the drive is not necessary unless you really want to
you just need to use a bios that is configured to how the drive was set-up

if the drive is smaller than 120GB, it doesn't matter which bios you use
since your 200GB drive didn't use G:, then you will need to make sure your bios doesn't use G: as well. so just switch to an X2 4983.06 (or X2 4981.06) and the 200GB drive should work

Yes, you will need a bios that supports LBA137+ (drives bigger than 137gigs) so they can use the G: partition.

depends what version of M8. the first version didn't have LBA48 support but could be patched.
either get the newest version of M8+ and make sure it's configured NOT TO USE G: (if you didn't have G: on the 1.1) since the drive wasn't formatted to use it.
or get the X2 4983.06 bios
or IND-BIOS 5003.06

***if you had G: on your 1.1 with the 200GB, you will need a bios that uses G: (X2 4983.67 or IND BIOS 5003.67***

ok. The program does not say anymore then M8 as far as I can see, so I guess I have a non LBA M8 BIOS. I have moded my 1.4 in an always on mode, is this a problem when flashing? Is my aladdin writeprotected or even worse, since it has a pinheader, need a programer?

How do I in a best way flash my 1.4?
And would the aladdin support the X2? guess I will be going for the X2 4983.06 .... if I could find a place 2 download it

you can flash the chip in your 1.4 with evox
and yes, it will work with that bios since compatibility is independant from chip (except for the X3 bios which can only be used on X3 chips)

But there will not be a problem since it is in an always on config? D0 and BT 2 ground...?

no problem, in fact, it has to be on to be flashed.
just make sure it's not write-protected so you can flash it otherwise, you'll just get an error

That was my point.. will it be writeprotected when in "always on" mode? not connected to the button...

And I run XBMC, and no evox dashboard, what program would I use to flash? Just got the BIOS u recomended now
